f(x) Member Amber Debuts As Solo Artist With Self-Composed Ballad 'Beautiful' [VIDEO]

f(x)’s Amber released her first solo song, “Beautiful.”

SM Entertainment released the first song off of Amber’s debut mini-album on February 9, along with a lyric video. Rather than a music video featuring Amber or a plot, the lyric video for “Beautiful” shows Amber throughout her life with family and friends, with the words of the song overlaying the pictures. "Beautiful" is the title song of Amber's mini-album, but she will also be promoting "Shake That Brass."

Along with being the first f(x) member to debut as a solo artist, Amber is also SM Entertainment’s first female artist to go solo since SM Entertainment began to debut idol group members as solo artists in 2013, beginning with Super Junior-M’s Henry. Super Junior-M’s Zhou Mi, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, and SHINee’s Taemin and Jonghyun have also debuted as solo artists.

Amber composed, wrote the lyrics, and arranged “Beautiful” while working with Jam Factory and Ryan Yoo.

The singer also left a message to her fans on Twitter, explaining the importance of "Beautiful."

“Beautiful” is a ballad song containing rap, unlike the dance-pop songs that f(x) specializes in. In the girl group, Amber acts as a rapper-vocalist.

SM Entertainment previously released several brightly colored teaser images of Amber.

Amber will begin promoting “Beautiful” on January 12, by appearing on two radio shows, before beginning television promotions. According to her official site, Amber will begin “Shake That Brass” promotions on KBS’s Music Bank, followed by appearances on SBS’ Inkigayo and MBC’s Show Champion.

Along with “Beautiful,” Amber is set to release a mini-album. Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon will feature on one of the tracks. The mini-album “Beautiful” will be digitally released on January 13.
