Girls' Generation's Taeyeon Criticized In 'Shake That Brass' Even Though Amber Asked Her To Feature In The Song

Amber Liu of f(x) has finally made her solo debut, but is her collaborator on "Shake that Brass" casting a shadow on the debut?

On Thursday, SM Entertainment premiered the music video for Amber's lead single, which features Taeyeon of Girls' Generation. Despite both artists' popularity, many are criticizing Taeyeon's appearance on the song.

"I would have preferred Taeyeon not to have been a part of this," wrote YouTuber viewer Sarah Smith in a comment posted to the video streaming website on Thursday. "Amber doesn't need any help getting views. She's a good artist and really stands out on her own. If anyone had to be a feature, I would have picked [Jessica Jung]."

According to allkpop, Amber was the one who asked Taeyeon to feature in "Shake that Brass."

"I worried a lot over who to get featured on the song," said Amber. "I thought Taeyeon would make a good choice so I personally called Taeyeon to ask her if she could help me. She gave me her consent coolly."

Despite the personal invitation, many are expressing the opinion that Taeyeon does not fit well with the song.

"Taeyeon's part didn't fit that well, in my opinion," wrote YouTuber viewer Elizabeth D. "If you wanted a powerful vocal who is friends with Amber...Ailee! Her voice would have fit so much better. Taeyeon is too soft."

In addition to Taeyeon, the music video also features a slew of K-pop idol cameos. This includes fellow Girls' Generation member Hyoyeon, miss A's Min, GOT7's Jackson, Rainbow's Woori, NU'EST's Aron, C-Clown's Rome and G.O.D.'s Joon Park.

Currently, f(x) is on hiatus after a shortened promotional period for "Red Light" last summer.

"I prepared for a long time, but I wasn't able to show a lot to fans," said fellow f(x) member Luna. "But I will work harder to show a more mature and better f(x) stage in 2015."
