Last November, Miley Cyrus proclaimed that she is "one of the biggest feminists in the world." Now she is further cementing that statement - according to E Online, the "Wrecking Ball" singer thinks that young women are ready to take on the world.

Let's start with some background story. According to the Huffington Post, Cyrus sat down for an interview last year with BBC's Radio 1 Newsbeat to discuss her take on modern feminism. She stated, "I feel like I'm one of the biggest feminists in the world because I tell women to not be scared of anything. For me, it's not even that I'm a feminist. I'm for anybody. I'm for everybody, for everything. I don't care what you wanna do in your life, or who you wanna be with, who you wanna love, who you wanna look like."

Many people have ridiculed Cyrus' choice of wearing revealing clothing and making provocative gestures in the past, but sociologist Catherine Hakim doesn't see a problem with it.  She said of Cyrus, "There's absolutely no contradiction at all between being a feminist and taking your clothes off and being comfortable about displaying your sexuality. She's using it for her own purposes, she's increasing her fan base, she's making a lot of money, she's doing what she wants to do."

Indeed, Cyrus is fully embracing her freedom. She stated, "Someone came up to me last night and was like, 'Women f--king love you,' and I was like, 'I f--king love women, trust me.' They are something so beautiful... This kind of sounds cheesy, but girls just rule."

She continued, "The world is in the prime of its feminine energy...I think there's been a real twist [and] women are starting to feel that. We were talking about women's rights last night and [someone said], 'Women are more suppressed right now than ever before.'  Well, I don't think so-I think we're more free than we've ever been...I'm seeing it everywhere; young women are totally ready to come out of their shells, to take on the world...

There's a lot of talk about feminism-people want to take that word and make it a bad thing, but it's the greatest thing ever! Of course you're a feminist, you know?"
