Amanda Knox Finds Calling After Murder Case Retrial; Admits She's Lucky To Have Strong Support

Following the acquittal from the Italian Supreme Court in the murder case retrial, Amanda Knox now believes that she's been chosen to serve a higher purpose.

In an opinion piece published on Seattle Times, Amanda Knox said she's learned a lot from the murder case retrial.

"Whatever the future holds for me, I know that I must give back. I survived because my dear family gave up their lives to be with me in Italy; because scores of friends donated their resources; because my lawyers worked tirelessly to bring attention to the evidence that exonerated me; because strangers - from world-renowned DNA experts to former FBI crime-scene investigators to everyday citizens - saw the injustice in my case and spoke out," she wrote.

Amanda Knox also credited residents of Seattle who put their necks on the line to give her a job and help her financially even with the murder case retrial looming above her head.

"I am all too aware of how lucky I am to have received such strong support," she added. "I am also aware that countless other wrongfully convicted people do not have such support."

"I will work to give a voice to those individuals. I will do this because I know how a wrongful conviction can destroy one's life, and because we best honor crime victims by ensuring that the actual perpetrators are brought to justice."

After she was acquitted from the murder case retrial, Amanda Knox's family released a statement which read, "We want to express our profound gratitude to all of those who have supported Amanda and our family. Countless people -- from world-renowned DNA experts to former FBI agents to everyday citizens committed to justice -- have spoken about her innocence."

"We are thrilled with and grateful for today's decision from the Supreme Court of Italy. And we are grateful beyond measure for all that so many of you have done for her."
