K-Pop Crossover: TMZ's Coverage Of EXID Angers K-Pop Idols Like f(x)'s Amber Liu [VIDEO]

TMZ's coverage has attracted controversy in the past, and a recent video has caused negative backlash in the world of K-pop.

On Saturday, a video surfaced on YouTube showing TMZ staff members discussing EXID's arrival at LAX for the 2015 Korea Times Music Festival. Shortly afterwards, observers and K-pop fans began to criticize the video when one staff member imitated an Asian accent.

"What?" asked the staff member. "If it was a British girl, I would do a British accent."

The video quickly spread online as viewers criticized the disrespectful tone toward EXID.

"This is why the world hates Americans," wrote YouTube viewer Sandara Puanani. "This shows the obnoxious, elitist, bigoted and I'm better than the rest of you so I make no apologies for what I say attitude."

Eventually, the TMZ video also attracted the attention of K-pop idols like f(x)'s Amber Liu.

"I was going to stay quiet but I can't," tweeted Amber. "Seriously TMZ, not cool man. All Americans face palm at your rude and childish actions."

EXID garnered major success starting from last year, when a fancam video of the group went viral and garnered over 13 million views on YouTube.

"Although there have been fancams that became hot topics, we've heard that there hasn't been a case where a song would rank highly because of a fancam [before]," said Junghwa according to the website allkpop.

"At first, our friends told us, 'Your video is a hot topic on social networking sites,' and our song entered into the top 100. It rose to 82nd place and we thought it would stop there. Yet as our song ranking continued to climb we were amazed, anxious, and scared. Afterwards we became conflicted; our concern was mixed with several emotions. We can't believe that this kind of thing happened to us."

Last month, EXID made a comeback with their second mini album titled "Ah Yeah."
