Serena Williams wins at the French Open 2015 against opponent Lucie Safarova last Saturday.

Despite being reported to be suffering from the flu, the athlete won six to three, six to seven, six to two, making her win easily at a Grand Slam singles title.

As The New York Times reported, Serena has officially earned herself a spot on the top three female players having the most major singles titles. She has 20 under her belt, two wins away from Steffi Graf and four from Margaret Court.

"I probably topped for my most difficult time to win," the athlete said, according to the source cited above.

Her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou also added, "Twenty is a nice, round number," he said.

As to what she thinks of the Grand Slam, Williams responded with much enthusiasm. "I think it'd be awesome," she said. "But at the end of the day, it's pretty awesome to have 20. Obviously, I would love to win a Grand Slam. I haven't done great at Wimbledon the past two years, so I'm going to take it a day at a time there."

Winning the title in red clay would also make it very special for Serena, as it is known to be her weak spot in terms of playing. Red clay courts are where the 33-year-old usually experiences having a hard time. "It makes this trophy really special," she said. "I really wanted it. I wanted to win so bad."

During the third set, Williams was given a warning for cursing profusely throughout the match. She explained it later on.

"I got so frustrated," she said. "I pretty much gave the match away. I think she played really well, but at the same time, I gave it to her."

Regardless, Serena was still able to turn the tides around and won the final six games.

Her opponent also released a statement about Serena Williams' wins at the French Open 2015. "Experience kind of kicked in on the other side of the net," said Safarova's coach, Rob Steckley. "You've got to be extremely hungry and can't be a nice girl. You've got to dig deep and get yourself dirty and not be afraid to go for the win. That's what Serena does best. She does what she needs to do to intimidate the other players and push them back off the baseline."
