Mark McGrath Of Sugar Ray Joins Urologists Nerds Drinking Beer To Boosts Men's Reproductive Health

Mark McGrath of the band Sugar Ray and Path2Parenthood announced that they are teaming up with leading physicians to support male reproductive health. Path2Parenthood launched a new web series, "Urologist Nerds Drinking Beer" on their website.

The series will be moderated by Mark McGrath, of the band Sugar Ray, a recent recipient of Path2Parenthood's Advocacy Award.

"I love what Path2Parenthood is doing to reach young men with important information about their health. The consequences of not taking care of yourself in your teens and twenties will not only harm you during your youth, but may come back to haunt you later," says McGrath.

"You can chalk it up to false pride, tough guy mentalities or simple, widespread cases of the 'I don't wannas,' but whatever its cause, the data is incontrovertible - men do not go to the doctor, at least not willingly, or with the same regularity that women do," reads the press statement.

"And this is in spite of the fact that many common diagnoses, from STD infections to testicular cancer can be cured easily, especially if caught early."

The nine-part series, featuring prominent urologists Natan Bar-Chama, M.D. of Reproductive Medicine Associates of New York and the Ichan School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; Stanton Honig, M.D. of Yale Urology; Ajay Nanjia, M.D. of the University of Kansas Medical Center and Paul Shin, M.D. of Shady Grove Fertility and Reproductive Science Center, is breaking new ground, by taking serious subjects and lightening them up with humor and language young men can relate to.

"All four doctors associated with this project are deeply committed to men's health issues. We are usually very serious when we discuss these issues. The web series, "Urologist Nerds Drinking Beer," gives us the opportunity to reach, and therefore, teach young men, particularly those from ages 18-45, in a less formal and casual venue," says Honig.

Despite its humorous tone, the state of male reproductive health is a serious matter and of passionate concern to the Nerds, who have been practicing urology for 81 years.

Each episode targets a highly relevant, sensitive topic area, such as "Ball Handling 101: How to Avoid (The C Word)," "Big Delts and Baby Balls: Why You Should Avoid Steroids," and "Spare Tire, Sparse Sperm." Supporting educational materials based on each episode include articles on P2P's website, such as testicular self-exam pointers and easy-to-follow lifestyle tips on everything from condom use to smoking pot.
