Good news for tourist and locals alike as there won't be any hindrance to sharing on social media a trip to the White House. It was just announced that the White House is saying goodbye to its 40-year-long White House tour no cameras rule.

The announcement was made by First Lady Michelle Obama herself on Instagram.

"If you've been on the White House tour, you may have seen this sign," she started saying.

"Well, not anymore," she continued.

In a press release on the White House website, the policy change set some parameters for the scrapping of the White House tour no cameras rule.

"Effective today, guests are now welcome to take photos throughout the White House tour route and keep those memories for a lifetime," the announcement said.

"Visitors are also encouraged to share their experience using the hashtag #WhiteHouseTour," it also mentioned after the White House tour no cameras rule has been changed.

Although cameras and picture taking are now allowed, camera lenses should not exceed more than 3 inches. Video cameras are also not allowed as well as flash photography. CNN also reported that visitors are not allowed to take their selfies using a selfie stick.

The White House tour no cameras rule change has been lauded by many. In a report on The New York Times, visitors expressed their excitement.

"She is taking a lot of pictures," Kim Kesler of Los Angeles shared about her daughter after the change in the White House tour no cameras rule. "She won't let go of the camera. This is awesome."

"I think it kind of does change things," Craig Cook of Sacramento said.

"We prepared the kids," he added. "We said, 'You've got to treat your eyes like cameras.' But this will make these memories last longer this way, without the fuzzy filter of memory."
