Jared Padalecki Emotional at Comic-Con, 'Supernatural' Star Overwhelmed By Fans’ Support As He Battles Depression

The "Supernatural" panel during the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con was filled not only with laughter but also with emotions on Sunday. Jared Padalecki, who portrays Sam Winchester in the series, was surprised by the fans with an emotional tribute for the actor's depression battle.

In the middle of the funny antics of the panel during Comic-Con, Padalecki was handed a battery-operated candle by one of the crew to his amazement. As fellow actors continued to talk, Padalecki got even more surprised when he read the note attached to the candle.

"This is so touching and humbling and honoring," he told the audience at the "Supernatural" panel as it ended as quoted by Mashable.

"I don't have the proper words to say thank you or how humbled and honored and excited I am," he added.

After the event, Padalecki shared to E! Online his surprise over the fandom's move.

"At first I didn't know what it is," he told E! Online. "I thought people were holding up their iPhones or something. And then someone handed me the note explaining it and I found out what was really going on."

"It took everything in my power not to cry," he added.

Padalecki's on screen brother was surprised as well.

"I thought there was like a rock band about to come out that I didn't know about," Jensen Ackles explained.

"I'm astonished at the support that these fans give Jared and give us on the show, day in and day out," he also said.

Hours after the event, Jared Padalecki took to Facebook to thank the "Supernatural" fans for their tribute for his battle with depression.

"A thank you," the Facebook update started.

"I feel so blessed, and grateful, and honored to be a part of the magical Supernatural Family," he continued.

It was just last May when Padalecki suddenly dropped out of a "Supernatural" event in Europe due to another bout of depression. The actor took to social media then to explain the situation and was showered by support from his co-star and fans. He opened up about his battle with depression to Variety in March and launched afterwards the "Always Keep Fighting" campaign.

"Everyone is given a candle that burns just for them," the attachment on the candle at the "Supernatural" panel at Comic-Con said.

"When your flame flickers and you fear it will go out, know not even the strongest wind lasts forever; and there are other lights to guide you even in the Darkness," the message and tribute for Jared Padalecki's depression battle added as quoted by the New York Daily News.
