LASplash's Harry Potter Inspired Lipsticks Confuse Die-Hard Fans: Why Is ‘Ravenclaw’ Shade Red?

Fans of "Harry Potter" flipped out today when news broke that LA Splash released new liquid lipsticks with names and shades inspired by J.K. Rowling's cult-favorite fantasy series. But die-hard fans were quick to notice: why is the shade named "Ravenclaw" red?

LA Splash's new line of liquid lipsticks come in fun shades like Bellatrix, Sirius, Nagini, Nymph-adora, Lovegood, and Ravenclaw - named after characters and themes of the "Harry Potter" series. The shades range from forest-green to desert rose.

But "Ravenclaw" is a deep, maroon red, which left many "Harry Potter" fans baffled.

"why the hell is raven claw red," Facebook user Nora Strong commented on this Buzzfeed article about the liquid lipsticks.

"That bothers me a great deal too." Sarah Hussain responded.

Facebook user Samantha Miller commented: "Just because they took the names from a book, they think they're great and geeky. But the colors they used for each one are just No. Bellatrix should have been that deep, deep red she wore. Sirius should have been close to black in color. The navy for Bellatrix should have been Ravenclaw. Its just a mess."

Yani Vodkka Rivera added, "All of these got named super poorly and show a complete lack of understanding of the characters. It's great they named it after HP but I could slap names on anything and say its a homeage[...] Red would have been good for Bellatrix or even Sirius who bleeds Gryffindor. Luna or Tonks should have been the bubbly pinks and Hermione the more muted mauve. Severus wtf is even that. Kind of disappointed in the naming of the line which is sad because their colors are so gorgeous"

So what's everyone freaking out about? Those who paid close attention to the books will remember that the Ravenclaw Hogwarts House's colors are blue and bronze. Gryffindor, on the other hand, is red and gold.
