2NE1 Mysteriously Return To Media Spotlight

With only one 2NE1 member currently active as a musical act, observers are curious with the sudden influx of headlines surrounding the 4-member YG Entertainment girl group.

On Tuesday, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk uploaded an old promotional photo of 2NE1 on his personal Instagram. With hashtags signaling the six years since their debut, fans were caught off guard by the move, given the group is currently on hiatus.

But on this day, the most significant headline came regarding 2NE1 member Park Bom, who was briefly spotted leaving the YG Entertainment building after being out of the public eye for well over a year.

"Suddenly we are flooded with 2NE1 news," noted Twitter user 박봄 Expert. "Hmm."

Based the various 2NE1 members' Instagram accounts, it is speculated that every member is currently in Korea. Earlier this month, Yang conducted an interview briefly discussing the group's future, given their contract expiration next year.

"As of now, we are focusing on CL's American debut," he said according to allkpop. "After she does well [in America], we will think of [plans for] 2NE1. 2NE1 is contracted until next year."

While CL's upcoming mini-album "Lifted" still does not have an official release date, 2NE1 fans are hoping the recent sightings mean future promotions and plans are being devised for the group before their contracts end.

"We just finished our tour last year and we always have the longest break," explained CL during a radio interview with 99.7 NOW's Christian Saad.

"I know our fans hate us, but before our last album we had a two-year gap. We just want to come out when it's perfectly ready. They're doing their own stuff too. Minzy always wanted to go back to school and Dara wanted to be an actress. I think it's time for us to do that because we've never gotten to [do so]."
