Psy Brings Up His Military Service At April 13 Happening: 'It's Been Six Years Since I Was In The Army' K-Pop Icon Says [VIDEO]

Psy mentioned his military service in the South Korean army onstage at his "happening" at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday, to a crowd of over 50,000 screaming fans.

"This is my 13th year since I debuted, and it has been six years since I was in the army," Psy said, according to the Korean Star Daily. "No matter what, I hope to continue at my career's peak because it hasn't been easy for me to come to this point after 12 years. I am making my comeback with trepidation on my home turf, but I am very happy to see you all."

Although the show was filled with the type of over-the-top hijinks that Psy is known for, including being suspended over the stadium crowd on a wire, the star was moved to tears when the crowd began chanting his real name, Park Jae Sang.

"When I was still a kid, everyone in the nation would be highly anticipating the album release of Seo Taiji and Shin Seung Hun," he said. "It has been like a dream for me in the past 9 months, and I am really delighted to see that everyone in Korea is anticipating my album release."

Psy debuted his new song "Gentleman" at the show and said that even if it doesn't reach the 1.5 billion views that his record-breaking hit "Gangnam Style" did, the critics like it and that's enough for him.

"People were worried for me if my new song doesn't do well overseas, because when will such an opportunity arrive again," he said. "But in the two days since 'Gentleman' was released, reviews have come in favorably, so even if it doesn't succeed, it wouldn't be an issue."

By early Tuesday morning, barely two days after being released, Psy's "Gentleman" video had already reached over 81 million YouTube views.

K-pop's biggest international star also opened up about feeling homesick on the road at the April 13 show.

"Someone once asked when it is most difficult for me when I am overseas," he told the crowd. "I would say that I miss spicy rice cakes, missing the times when work ended, and all the Koreans would brag about their achievements in their native language. I will be going back to my lonely shell after today ends, but I will remember the joy, sincerity, and the cheers that you have all bestowed me with, and face my new challenges bravely."
