Synopsis/Recap

This week's episode begins with Tatewaki and Isozaki continue to gather Sasaki's belongings. The family requests that all of the things be shipped instead of them coming to pick them up. Tatewaki requests to take the stuff, wanting to understand why he kept the bones.

Later, Tatewaki visits Sakurako and asks her to help him take Sasaki's belongings to the family. He asks why Sakurako is avoiding him. She deflects. They arrive. Tatewaki mentions why they came but Sakurako immediately is drawn to Sasaki's sister's feet. They are in the Celtic shape.

Sasaki's sister tells them that the bones they found belong to her caregiver, Natsuko. Specifically, the bones are Natsuko's baby's bones. Natsuko had the baby out of wedlock. Sasaki was not the father, but Sasaki did have feelings for her. Sasaki then found out that Natsuko buried the child. Sasaki and Natsuko never got married.

Outside, Sakurako and Tatewaki examine bones that they find in a music box. Sakurako deduces that Natsuko was not the real mother, and instead it was Sasaki's sister's baby. She figures this out based on the Celtic feet shape.

Sasaki's sister then tells the truth: she fell in love with a friend of her father's. He apparently hid his separate family. In the car, Sakurako tells Tatewaki that Sasaki probably never got together with Natsuko because he believed they were siblings due to his sister putting the bones with the baby bones.

Tatewaki jumps out of the car to do research on his own at a memorial hall. He returns to Sasaki's sister's house and gives her the photo he found in the Mistletoe book. Sasaki's sister breaks down at the heartfelt message on the back of the photo.

Tatewaki confronts Sakurako, deducing that Sakurako actually used to go to that high school based on her knowledge of the science room and the cat bones. Sakurako kept the cat bones because she felt like the cats were hers. Both cats died of poisoning.

Understanding her sadness, Tatewaki offers that they should put the second set of cat bones from Sasaki's office together to displace with Sakurako's.
