'Thor 3' 2017 Casting and Plot Rumors: Cate Blanchett is in final negotiations to terrorize Chris Hemsworth's Thor in the upcoming "Thor 3: Ragnarok."

The Thor franchise has already featured superheroines like Jane Foster, Darcy, Sif, and Frigga but the villains have been male. Loki went up against the God of Thunder and the Avengers. Malekith stalked the Aether in Thor: The Dark World.

Thor: Ragnarok is the highly-anticipated third installment in the Thor series, which will follow up 2011's Thor and 2013's Thor: The Dark World.

Blanchett may play the role of villain Amora the Enchantress. 

Blanchett starred as elf queen Galadrie in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, and its prequel saga, The Hobbit. Blanchett won an Oscar for Blue Jasmine.

No female character has served as the main hero or main villain of any Marvel Studios feature film. 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp will headline a female superhero. The only female villain so far onscreen is Karen Gillan's Nebula from Guardians. Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, is only a half villain.

"They all have potential to scare the hell out of me, any of those women,"Hemsworth said during a recent  stop in a promotional tour for "In The Heart of the Sea,". 

"I felt like the little brother, getting bossed around by these three women in the best way. Oh God, don't make me pick one... maybe Jessica, but only because [Emily Blunt and Charlize Theron] are already villains in our film."

According to Viking legends Thor, Odin and Loki will die when their world gets submerged in water, and a new world surfaces. The new world will  be populated by the human race. So, if the Thor franchise sticks to mythology, the trilogy will end on a "depressing" note

At the end of "'Thor 2," Thor turned down Odin's offer to take the throne of Asgard. But Odin was actually Loki in disguise. Rumors say Loki will start a war between Midgard and Asgard at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron setting up Thor 3.
