Big Bang Vague On Plans Regarding Mandatory Military Enlistment: 'We Try Not To Talk About Our Future' G-Dragon Claims

The five members of Big Bang might be willing to discuss the group's upcoming hiatus presumably planned for when they show up to serve in the South Korean army, but it clearly isn't their favorite topic.

"Actually, we try not to talk about our future," the group's frontman G-Dragon told the Korean publication Star news in an interview posted Friday on the website of Big Bang's record label, YG Entertainment.

"We're busy enjoying every second of the time left for us. One thing that is certain though, is that our future will be greater than the present. We believe that tomorrow will be better than today and we act with such a belief."

All eligible males between the ages of 18 and 35 currently must enroll for between 21 and 24 months of army service in South Korea (the length of mandatory enrollment changes by several months depending on which branch of the military that they serve in), due to the country's decades-long conflict with the North.

Yet, Big Bang member Daesung appeared to hint at a future for the band beyond the time spent serving their country.

"It is true that there won't be that many opportunities to stand on the stage as a complete team before we go to serve our military service," he said.

"That is why every performance of us these days is so meaningful and precious. We'll of course continue to perform our music after we come back from the army, but we have no specific plans yet."

Though the group's imminent break doesn't mean they have any plans of slowing down.

"We're completing our MADE tour this year," said Big Bang vocalist Taeyang.

"It will end in March in Seoul. If it is possible, we want to complete the 'MADE' album and then begin a new project. As this year marks the 10th anniversary of our debut, we want to make the final concert meaningful, to celebrate it."

Like the other times the end of Big Bang has been brought up in interviews or at awards shows, the group was quick to thank the fans for their enduring support.

"Thank you, thank you, that is what I want to say to our fans," Daesung said.

"These are just some common words that everyone says frequently. But these days, I think about those words' real meaning. I thank my fans for all their support so far. I want to want to continue to create music that makes a deep impression. Thank you for loving these five ordinary boys and I want to tell you that we love you so much, too."
