Uhm Hyun-Kyung is confirmed to be one of the cast members of the new SBS drama “Defendant” along with Kim Min-Seok and veteran actor Uhm Ki-Joon. The lead actor and actres for the drama is still undetermined, because both Ji Sung and Han Ye-Seul have not confirmed their participation.

“Defendant” is scheduled to air in 2017 to replace “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" that currently replace the time slot of “Moon Lover: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” as Monday and Tuesday night drama on SBS starting Nov. 7.

Last week actress Uhm Hyun-Kung has confirmed her role as second lead character in the drama according to report by JTBC News. Hyun-Kyung will join veteran actor Uhm Ki-Joon who has already confirmed their participation in the drama.

Hyun-Kyung is known as the female host in the KBS variety show “Happy Together” Season 3. She hosted the show with four best KBS variety show male hosts Yoo Jae-Suk, Park Myeong-Su, Jun Hyun-Moo and Jo Se-Ho. “Happy Together” is one of the long running Thursday night variety show.

Previously, young actor Kim Min-Seok have confirmed his joining the cast member of “Defendant” as reported by News One. The drama is written by script writer Choi Soo-Jin whose previous work is SBS drama ‘City Hunter” in 2011.

Director Jo Young-Gwang will direct the thriller drama which tells the story of prison break. Jo’s previous work was SBS “Hyde, Jekyll and Me” in 2015.

“Defendant” follows the story of a prosecutor Park Jung-Woo who finds himself suffered an amnesia and being locked up in the prison cell. He was sentenced to death for a false accusation. He must try to remember things and proe his innocence.

Actor Ji Sung and actress Han Ye-Seul have been offered to become lead actor and actress in the drama, but neither of them have confirmed to participate.
