New SBS drama “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim” debuted well in its first week. The drama took off with a high ratings.

“Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim” is expected to be  the most realistic medical drama. Prior to the shooting, all actors and crews involved in the drama must prepare hard to portray the situation to be as realistic as possible.

The drama takes over the time slot previously taken by “Moon Lover: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” and viewers have a high expectation to the drama considering its cast members consist of top level actor Han Suk-Kyu with two young talented actor and actress Seo Hyun-Jin and Yoo Yeon-Seok.

Viewers love the “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim” storyline, as the first episode took off with a good start. Its first episode aired on Nov. 7 soared with 9.5 percent ratings in both TnMS and Nielsen Korea, surpassing its two competitors MBC “Woman with A Suitcase” with 8.2 percent and KBS2 “Sweet Stranger and Me” that ousted from the Top 20 list in both rating lists.

Its second episode is normalized in TnMS with 8.7 percent but still took the lead against its two competitors. While in Nielsen Korea it climbed higher with 10.8 percent. The first two episode of “Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim” has been watched by averaged 1,38 million household in Korea.

The drama tells the story of a renown surgeon who mastered in three different specialties Dr. Bu Yong-Joo (Han), who is known as Teacher Kim (Kim Sabou/김사부) which withdraw himself from the spotlight. The first episode has brought the audience at the edge of their seat with its fast pace storytelling.

It also started with early romance between two young doctors Kang Dong-Joo (Yeo) and Yoon Seo-Jung (Seo). The kissing scene between them in the first episode startled the audience who didn’t expect an early romance.

Its fast pace continue in the episode 2, when Seo-Jung was having a breakdown after losing her boyfriend and thought about ending her life. Holding a scalper, she was surrounded by doctors who told her not to do it. Eventually, she cut her wrist with the scalpel and Teacher Kim rushed to her to stop the bleeding.
