KBS drama ‘My Fair Lady’ uncovers rare case of childhood Alzheimer's disease

KBS' new drama drama “My Fair Lady” revolves the story around a rare case of childhood Alzeheimer's disease. Starring Oh Ji-Ho and child actress, Heo Jung-Eun, the drama set to make its mark in the drama landscape.

“My Fair Lady” is the working title of the drama, but its literal translation is “Oh My Geum-Bi” (오 마이 금비). The drama tells the heartwarming story of a little girl named Geum-Bi, played by Heo, who suddenly appeared in the life of her father Hwi-Chul (Oh), who is a con artist.

The drama is aired as a Wednesday and Thursday drama a end premiered last week on November 16. Although having a fierce competition from SBS drama “Legend of the Blue Sea,” “My Fair Lady” managed to secure 6.5% ratings, according to Seoul Daily News.

A day before the premiere, KBS held a press conference to announce the drama. All cast members appear and took photo together.


In the first episode, “My Fair Lady” slowly built up its pace to show how tricky Hwi-Chul and his two partners in crime, Gil-Ho and Joo-Young. Later on, Hwi-Chul was arrested for selling counterfeit artworks, but his luck changed as Geum-Bi showed up.

Geum-Bi previously lived with her aunt, However, her aunt said that if she is unable to support Geum-Bi, she should go to the address which the aunt gave her. One day, as her aunt didn’t come home, so Geum-Bi decided to come to the address.

Hwi-Chul was released from prison with the appearance of his daughter. The Korean penal code declares that first time offender can be released if he has family that he must support.

“My Fair Lady” showcases a good acting from Heo, as noted by News 1. She played well to portray a little girl who suffers from childhood dementia, or known as Niemann-Pick disease type C (NPC).
