FTISLAND, CNBLUE Added To Lineup For World-Famous Summer Sonic Festival In Japan

Summer is just around the corner which means music festival lineups are being settled and eager fans are saving their pennies to attend some of the best shows around the world.

Japan's Summer Sonic Festival is one of the biggest in Asia with dozens of high-profile international acts performing at it each year.

This summer, K-Pop fans can rejoice as both FT Island and CNBLUE have just been added to the performance schedule.

The two idol bands will hit the Rainbow Stage in Chiba (Tokyo) on August 10 before heading over to Osaka the following day to appear on the Flower Stage before thousands of screaming fans.

It seems that the festival promoters are thrilled to have such popular Korean artists at their star-studded event.

The groups will perform on the same days as many other globally popular groups like Metallica, Fall Out Boy, M.I.A, and Linkin Park for the popular two-day festival. The line-up also includes many popular Japanese rock acts from both major and indie record labels making the festival one of the most diverse and noteworthy in the world.

Summer Sonic began in 2000 and because of its powerful lineup, soon became internationally known as one of the best summer festivals of the year. FT Island previously played at the festival in 2010, but this year's event will be the first time for CNBLUE.

Other Korean pop artists who have appeared at the two-day rock festival include K-indie favorites Nell (2008), mega stars Big Bang (2010), and veteran idol BoA (2011).

The news comes at a good time for the two Korean groups who have recently been focusing on promotional activities in Japan.  FT Island is busy preparing their third Japanese album, Rated-FT, which is set to be released on June 5 and CNBLUE released their fifth Japanese single "Blind Love" last month.

This year's Summer Sonic Festival will take place on August 10 and 11 and both one and two-day tickets are available for sale.

However, at the moment Summer Sonic tickets are not being sold outside of Japan, but according to the festival's official website, organizers are currently trying to determine the best way to handle overseas sales and will make an announcement on the matter soon.

Will you be attending Summer Sonic this summer to see CNBLUE and FT Island?
