First of all, Twice has once again reign the awards night as they won daesang award!

Twice's "Cheer Up" is definitely the jam of 2016 as it swept all of the awards for 'Song Of The Year'. Golden Disk Awards was not an exception as Twice has won the Daesang or the grand prize which is the 'Digital Song Of The Year'.

The members said, "It's such an honor to receive this award in front of our seniors. It's only been about one and a half years since our debut, but thank you so much for giving us such a great award. We'll work even harder from here on out."

Soompi has reported that on January 13, South Korea's top musicians and pop stars gathered at KINTEX for the first day of the '31st Golden Disk Awards'. The 2017 hosts for day 1 were Hwang Chi Yeol, Seohyun, and Yonghwa.

Other winners of 'Digital Single Bonsang' were G-Friend, Lee Hi, Urban Zakapa, MAMAMOO, Suzy & Baekhyun, Zico, Taeyeon, and veteran singer Lim Chang Jung .

Meanwhile, the 'New Artist Award' winners were the girl group from YG Entertainment Black Pink and the female duo Bolbbalgan4. The 'Best OST' award went to Gummy's "You Are My Everything" from the hit drama "Descendants of the Sun". The 'Best R&B/Soul Artist' is Crush.

The 'Best K-Pop Band' Award is given to CNBLUE. The 'Best Performance Male Group' is awarded to the first generation boy group, Sechskies while the "Best Performance Female Group" was given to SISTAR. More awards were given that night, like "Best Popular Artist by Netizens" which was handed to SHINee.

Probably the most exciting, shocking and controversial was the 'Asia Popularity Award' that was given to JYJ's Jaejoong. Jaejoong just recently finished his military service. He was a bit emotional when he received the award.

Comments from Netizen Buzz varied about Jaejoong's award. Some were happy but most were upset at how he was treated during the show. People were also commending the Sech Kies fans. They were praising them because the event place looked like it was a Sech Kies concert because most of the audiences were their fan.
