Psy To Play Stadium Concert In Jakarta This Summer: Rapper Calls It An Honor To Perform For His 'Friends in Indonesia'

The King of K-pop Psy announced Friday that he will be taking his "Gangnam Style" to Indonesia for the first time this summer.

The South Korean rapper will be performing at the Bung Karno Sports Stadium in Jakarta on July 6, as part of Korea-Indonesia Friendship Year 2013, the Jakarta Globe reports.

"It's an honor for me to present the concert for my friends in Indonesia," Psy said in a statement announcing the big show.

Recently appointed South Korea's tourism ambassador, K-pop's biggest international star is already starting to sound like a diplomat.

"This Jakarta concert is very special and very close to my heart as it will mark the 40th anniversary of the close relationship between Korea and Indonesia," he said.

Recent performers at Jakarta's Bung Karno Sports Stadium, which seats up to 80,000 people, have included Mick Jagger and Lady Gaga.

In Singapore for last night's Social Star Awards, Psy found himself in the odd position of having to respond to reports that a man at France's Cannes Film Festival was pretending to be him.

Psy's manager Scooter Braun alerted him of the imposter's presence at the festival, sending the rapper a photo of the wanna-be.

"He sent [the photo] to me, and I tweeted that, like, five, six hours ago, so everybody in France, they know," Psy said at the Singapore ceremony on Thursday, according to the UK publication the Independent.

"Real Psy is here."

By Tuesday morning, the Cannes promoters became alerted of the fake Psy's presence at the festival, but not before he posed for photos with fans and stars like Naomie Harris, from the James Bond movie Skyfall, who even posted the picture to Twitter.

"It looks as if we've been fooled, that wasn't the real Psy!" the actress tweeted after realizing she posed with a Psy impersonator and not the real Oppa.

"Could anyone else tell from the picture? Or am I just going crazy!? Haha!"

"We've been duped," the Cannes organizers said in an email to the New York Post on Tuesday.

"I had a conversation with his label [YG Entertainment] and it wasn't him, just a lookalike."

Psy used the incident as an excuse to have a bit of fun on Twitter, joking with Braun in a Twitter post on Tuesday.

"Seems like there's another me at Cannes," the South Korean rapper joked. "Say hi to him Scooter Braun, lol."
