Kim So Hyun is slated to be back on screen to star in the forthcoming historical romance series on KBS, "Mung Bean Chronicle." Her last project was in "Radio Romance" in 2018, wherein she portrayed the role of a wannabe radio writer.

Mung Bean Chronicle is based on a titular webtoon that details the romantic involvement between Dong Dong Joo (Kim So Hyun), who doesn't want to be a female courtesan, and Jeon Nok Du (Jang Dong Yoon), a man disguising as a lady in an all-female community to escape the marriage.

Other celebrities who are part of the cast are Jung Joon Ho and Kang Tae Oh. Meanwhile, MOMOLAND member Yeonwoo's participation surfaced on May 27. While her role is still in talks, she reportedly received an offer to play as Dong Joo's best friend and a skillful gisaeng. Once her role materializes, this will mark as her debut as an actress.

Tae Oh will play the role of Cha Yul Mu, a dreamboat who is skilled in cooking. Unfortunately, in spite of the admiration that every lady in town feels about him, he only has eyes for Dong Dong Joo.

The 24-year-old actor is a member of 5urprise, a group of actors that was formed in 2013. His fellow members are Seo Kang-joon, Yoo Il, Gong Myung, and Lee Tae-hwan. His last appearance was in the on ongoing Netflix series "My First First Love," headlined by Ji Soo, B1A4's Jinyoung, and DIA's Jung Chaeyeon.

Joon Ho will give life to the character of Gwanghae, a king who has immeasurable greed for power. He reportedly received commendations from critics for his role as a professor in the recently-concluded 2019 TV series "SKY Castle."

Not only that but his performance in the 2016 historical drama "The Flower in Prison" was impressive as well, according to reports. Moreover, the series earned the Best Drama recognition in the Seoul Drama Awards in the same year.

Mung Bean Chronicle will be helmed by director and producer Kim Dong Hwi, the one who directed "The Merchant: Gaekju 2015" and the rom-com "Fight For My Way."

I'm Ye Jin and Baek So Yeon, on the other hand, will be writing the series. Ye Jin's past works include "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds," "If We Were A Season," and "Who Are You: School 2015." So Yeon was the one who wrote the historical drama "Kang Duk Soon's Love History."

Mung Bean Chronicle is set to kick off in September.
