The summer fever is indeed at its peak with several K-pop groups dropping summer bops one after another.
On August 19, The Boyz sent fans into a frenzy with the much-awaited release of their newest song “D.D.D.” Serving as the titular track of their fourth and most recent EP “DreamLike,” the song is an electro-pop dance jam that entices listeners to “dance dance dance.”
Staying true to the song’s title, the members of the group -- Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, New, Q, Ju Haknyeon, Hwall, Sunwoo, and Eric -- made sure to deliver upbeat performance to convey what it means to enjoy summer bliss through the track’s official music video.
In the accompanying visuals, the K-pop stars energetically dance and groove to the beat as they explore a virtual game-themed world. However, unlike last year’s “Bloom Bloom,” The Boyz departed from their cutesy appeal to charm fans through a more manly vibe.
Apart from the bouncy “D.D.D,” “DreamLike” contains five more tracks including “Water,” “Complete Me,” “Daydream,” “Summer Time,” and “Going High.”
The release of their latest effort comes around nine months since their last EP, “The Only.”
In previous reports, the K-pop troupe’s agency Cre.ker Entertainment has stated that Hwall will not be participating in the promotional activities for their comeback project.
“We apologize for causing fans to worry because of this sudden news. We hope for everyone’s understanding,” the agency shared, adding that his not being able to take part is due to health reasons.
Back in March 2018, Hwall suffered from a leg injury and underwent surgery because of that.
The Boyz, which first debuted in late 2017, is known for their songs “Boy,” “Giddy Up,” and “No Air” among others. They bagged the “Male Rookie of the Year” trophy at the 2018 Asia Artist Awards and the “World Rookie Awards” at the 2019 Gaon Chart Music Awards.
