These 10 K-Pop Idols Have Meaningful Stage Names

1. BTS's J-Hope

J-Hope is a unique name chosen for Jung Hoseok. His name has a deep meaning according to the Greek myth of Pandora's Box. When all the evils of the world came out of the box, there is nothing left but hope. J-Hope is the person who always gives hope to his members.

2. MAMAMOO's Solar

Solar's stage name was inspired by her real name, Kim Yong Sun. "Solar" which means sun came from the last syllable of her name, "Sun". Another meaning of "Solar" is the notes found in solfège music scales.

3. SEVENTEEN's The8

What made The8's stage name so unique is that only a few idols have an actual number in their name. Xu Minghao is SEVENTEEN's Chinese member and 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture. The number "8" also has an infinity symbol which is so cool.
