During an Instagram Live broadcast, the septet-comprised of members from established boy groups EXO, SHINee, NCT, and WayV-announced and pointed their fingers directly to the main vocalist of EXO as their leader.  

"I personally think that it'd be best if Baekhyun were the leader. It's true that if you look at the length of our careers, mine is longer, but even in SHINee, I was the youngest. And since we [SuperM] practiced a lot together, [I noticed] that Baekhyun takes especially good care of the other members, and I rely a lot on him as well. To be honest, I personally wanted to request that Baekhyun take on the role [of leader]," SHINee's pride Taemin said.

In a recent interview with The Ringer, it became clear why the 27-year-old ace was unanimously hailed to take over the role, in spite of the fact that he wanted Taemin, who's a year younger than him, to be the leader. Baekhyun is put in that position to keep everyone happy and relaxed with his innate ability as everyone's sunshine.

Baekhyun, during the talk, was in his usual spirited and comical self, not failing to spark titters and grins among the younger ones. But for EXO's main vocalist, he still can't relate to the leader, Suho, of his and Kai's original group, especially now that he holds the position himself.

"I can't really relate, because I feel like I don't actually do much. My biggest role here within this team is to keep the spirits high, and that's easy for me because I'm usually in high spirits myself, and it's really easy for me to do that with these guys," Baekhyun said.

Upon this delivery of the singer, Baekhyun's fellow EXO member giggled but also refuted his statement,

"I've been in EXO with Baekhyun for a long time, but before he was just a member. Now, with him as a leader, I definitely see the difference. I can see that he has more sense of responsibility for what he does, and he really goes out of his way to care for each of the members," Kai shared.

"When it's hard for us to voice our opinions or complaints, Baekhyun makes sure that everyone's opinions are relayed, and that everything is communicated. He doesn't realize he's good, but I'm 100 percent satisfied with his leadership," EXO's main dancer added.
