Police said, On October 22, Jung Won Joong was driving near a supermarket entrance in Yangpyeong, when he made a left turn. While making his left turn, he collided with the delivery driver, Lee (17-year-old). Lee was riding a motorcycle when the collision occured. He was immediately transported to Yangpyeong hospital after suffering from heavy injuries. Lee suffered from heart failure and hmwas promounced dead. The collision happened at 7:32 p.m.

He has also clarified misunderstandings by stating that the accident was not caused by him making an illegal U-turn or illegal left turn. He said, "I was slowly going towards the supermarket from an unprotected left turn lane [a lane that allows left turns but does not have a left turn signal], the motorcycle approached, and we collided."

The police reports indicated that Jung Won Joong was not drunk during the accident but he wasn't able to see the delivery driver or his motorbike clearly due to the dark surroundings. They have reportedly ruled out alcohol as a cause for the accident.

He explained that it was not an accident that occurred because of unlawful circumstances. "I have been investigated by the police, and if it were unlawful then I wouldn't have been able to leave the police station," he said.

He had not apologized or visited the funeral. He said, "I went to the emergency room immediately after the accident, but they probably could not see me because they were preoccupied." But he plans to go and visit them on October 25.

Jung Won Joong admitted to his faults in relation with the accident. KBS weekend drama Beautiful Love, Wonderful Life has also stated that he will be withdrawn from the drama.

Jung Won Joong has expressed his sorrow and apologies following the fatal accident.

He told the news outlet EDaily, "I feel like I want to die." He went on to say, "I apologize to his family, and I apologize to the public and I'm unsure of how I could ever present myself again."

Korean television and movie fans may recognize Jung Won Joong from the movie Midnight Runners, Steel Rain, and The Attorney. He also has roles in the dramas Reply 1988, Hospital Ship, and Winter Sonata.
