While everyone geared up for a new "OBSESSION" individual teaser on the midnight of November 15, true EXO-Ls also anticipated Lay's new single "Good Night." Boy did it pull our heartstrings, which was evident as the hashtag "LAY Love Song Good Night" trended worldwide. 

Even though the track is not available in platforms iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, among others, EXO-Ls found their own ways to give a listen to the melancholic "Good Night." It showcases Lay's exquisite vocals and versatility in music. C'mon, the guy can pull a bunch of genres, which includes mellow love songs as well.

Prior to its release, Lay already hinted at what new song would be like. And upon its release, his studio's Weibo update stated, "Saying goodbye to those feelings and regrets, wishing you good night, hope you have a good night."

EXO-Ls who can access Weibo are fortunate enough to stream the song firsthand. The above-stated lyrics are excerpts of the lyrics, and not long after, the studio made another post.

"Hide regrets in the deep night, left the story in long years. When winter is coming out but hasn't arrived yet, (hashtag) Zhang Yixing brings the new song "Good Night" and comes back with deep love again. The last time I say good night, I let you to the future that I have no relation to," says the Lay Zhang Studio as roughly translated by the intelexolteam.

In addition to this new track, ambient photos of Lay were also released. He is seen standing by the beach, looking sunk in gloom, clad in a set of cold-weather garments. 

Indeed, for someone who has composed, written, and produced tracks like "Peach," "Boss," "Lay U Down," and basically all of his album and EP releases, Lay always proves that he's an all-rounder artist who can belt high notes and melt us softly with his songs about heartbreak and love. Take it from his "Goodbye Christmas" song wherein he showcased his vocals and god-tier dancing skills. As a matter of fact, he's the one who composed "Promise," EXO's song to EXO-Ls.

As for "Good Night," Lay was the one who composed, arranged, and produced it. A few hours after its release, the lyrics' English translation circulated online. It starts with a sad tone, "Playing a quiet tune, flipping open a book left behind by you, spending time alone with the night, pouring a glass of wine, confessing to myself."

The chorus can poke one's heart as it goes with, "I tried to understand from the very beginning, love has a beginning and an ending, trying my best to stop the tears at least at the end, able to feel moved alone, I have once done everything, now it's time for me to withdraw."
