Following the successful event of SHINY Foundation founded by the late Jonghyun’s family and friends dedicated for his second death anniversary, fans and netizens reminisced the good memories the idol left in the physical world and how it created an impact to their lives, such as the story about how a person who has synesthesia said that Jonghyun’s voice is golden.

Looking back at the year 2015, during the live broadcast for Blue Night radio, a show where the SHINee’s member Jonghyun is hosting, he had received a letter from a synesthetic listener. Synesthesia is a neurological disability where a person receiving something through a sense, such as hearing, can perceive an additional sense such as sight. In the listener’s case, who has sent the letter, she can visualize sound as a color.

In her letter for the male idol, she shared how she mustered all of her courage to send the message after listening to his show every night. She also narrated how she had a hard time going through a crowd wherein many voices can be heard, or in a place creating too much noise. However, through her sister’s recommendation during her middle school years, she has found comfort in Jonghyun’s voice, which she visualizes as the color of autumn sunlight.

Meanwhile, after transferring into a quieter neighborhood to focus on her graduation, she’s still listening to the radio show, falling asleep while watching the swaying and rippling of “golden” voice. It is a fact that SHINee’s Jonghyun can be considered as one of the most talented main vocals and solo artist in the entertainment world, it was amazing how this color matches the male idol so much.

On the other hand, Jonghyun and the female listener had a phone call later after reading the letter, in which the idol does not only proves his golden voice but his golden heart as well. He said, “I am so happy that I can give you strength through radio, and I hope that at least during the time you are listening to me, you will feel comfortable, and your day will end glittering with gold.” Afterward, Jonghyun thanked the fan, where the listener replied with the description of the color she sees while on their phone call.

The Blue Night listener described Jonghyun’s voice saying, “On an autumn day with really clear skies, the sunlight reflecting on the ground and sparkling, it’s that kind of yellow.” Furthermore, the fan shared more about her condition, such as seeing the piano’s sound as gray or sometimes a snow powder falling through the air, violin’s sound as red, and how the color appears like bubbles, a haze, a ray of light with different textures.

Moreover, Jonghyun showed his care and love for his fans as well, as throughout the show, he made sure to make the listener comfortable, say, not pushing her to answer if the question seems awkward for her.
