A natural calamity recently occurred in the Philippines that brought nationwide distraught, and grief for its citizens as plumes of smoke and ash fumes from the crater of Taal Volcano in Tagaytay City, the onslaught of explosive eruptions of fragmented magma has yet ceased since January 12th. 

It has brought prominent damage and loss to Filipino citizens as everything is currently covered in ash due to the ashfall in neighborhoods and affected areas located near the volcano, the occupants within a 17 km range of the Taal Volcano were forced to evacuate their homes and the country's agricultural livelihoods are unattainably ruined as of the moment. Evacuation centers are filled to the brim with over 25, 000 individuals and are anticipated to increase over the next few days. 

Many Filipino netizens shared news updates and pleaded for help on social media platforms, which quickly reached their fellow countrymen and women who are capable of providing humanitarian aid. However, since social media can be accessed all around the world, the gut-wrenching news has reached international audiences and artists, especially in Korea.

Here are some Idols who caught wind of the tragedy and posted their concerns for the Philippines during this unfavorable time:

BTS' V

V or Kim Taehyung of BTS has expressed his feelings about the catastrophic calamity happening not online in the Philippines but also worldwide. It was on January 14th when the idol was online and scrolling through the app Weverse, which is a community platform that caters specifically and exclusively for fans of BTS, TXT, and GFRIEND when he came across a post of a fan.

The content of the post was a picture of Taal Volcano erupting with ash and smoke with lightning conducted by ash friction, a caption in the picture states, "PRAY FOR TAAL, PRAY FOR THE PHILIPPINES."

The original poster accompanied the picture with their message in Korean, the translation in English was reposted on Twitter, which stated, "Everyone, please help Philippine ARMYs.... Please." (Not: ARMY is the BTS fandom's name.)

Taehyung commented under the post with a short yet genuine reply saying that his heart feels heavy and aches a lot recently due to the recent natural disasters happening everywhere. The idol also hopes that no one is harmed during the eruption and sincerely wished that nature will stop bringing danger to people anymore.

Infinite's L

L or Kim Myungsoo from Infinite held his fan meet in the Philippines the same day that the volcano erupted. On January 12th, he held Come With Me fan meet in Manila, which is relatively far from the affected area.

After hearing about the news, he quickly uploaded a photo from his fan event on his Instagram @kim_msl and captioned it with a heartwarming message that said, "I would like to thank everyone (to the fans) who came to the fan meeting tonight. Due to the eruption of a volcano near Manila, I hope that no one will be affected by this natural calamity."

Super Junior's Siwon 

A few days ago, on January 13th, Choi Siwon of Super Junior shared his thoughts and concerns regarding the tragedy through his twitter @siwonchoi, his translated tweet reads as "My prayer goes out to the children and elderly and infirm of the Philippines. I hope no one is seriously hurt by the volcanic eruptions and earthquakes." His words comforted a lot of fans who know that their idol keeps them in their thoughts and prayers. 

Sandara Park

Lastly, Sandara Park, or Dara formerly from girl group 2NE1, who is also known to have begun her public figure career in the Philippines, shared a photo of Taal Volcano in the middle of releasing toxic fumes and ashes on her personal Instagram stories under the username @daraxxi. On January 14th, she posted this with a caption, "Please stay safe, everyone.
