The relationship between Kai and Mark began earlier than most people's knowledge, only hardcore fans will know their history together, but keep reading to find out Mark and D.O.'s similarity in Kai's eyes. Kai and Mark are currently co-members in SuperM, a team that's formed with Kpop's aces, but before them working together, they were first trainees under the same company. It's a known fact the EXO and NCT were both formed by SM Entertainment. However, there is a three-year gap between the debut of these two amazing groups.
 
 Mark revealed his first encounter with Kai in a recent interview, which was posted by Glamour just four days ago and is now available on Youtube. In the video, Mark recalled the first moment he even saw EXO's main dancer was way back in 2012 when he just landed in South Korea from Canada. The young rapper was just a trainee then. Still, he clearly remembers seeing Kai dancing through a glass door of a practice room, one of the trainers he was accompanied by mentioned that he should try to attain that kind of dancing level, and Mark also thought, "Dang, I gotta dance like that." 
 
In the same interview, Kai confessed that he often wondered what kind of person the younger was whenever he caught a glimpse of him performing on television. Although now that he got to know and is friends with Mark, he told Glamour that "He has integrity," and "He has a kind heart," and of all the time that they've spent together, he realized that all his expectations of his friend had been met. 

As Kai continues to open up about his friendship with his younger bandmate, he also recalls his relationship with other co-member D.O., who is currently doing his military service. He says that he loves his members dearly and that whenever he looks at Mark, he gets reminded of his feelings towards D.O. He often thinks he would like to be like D.O., and even though Mark is younger and less experienced than him, he gets the same feelings of desire. He wants to learn and adapt from Mark as he does with his other members. He expresses how he would like to embody his member's passion and use this to improve, better himself, and his artistic craft.  

There are other moments when Kai looked admirably at Mark, and it was caught on camera, one of them was during SuperM's live broadcast for #TwitterBlueroom. Mark was telling the audience how jealous he was of Kai's physical features, specifically his body. Their fans noticed how Kai was staring fondly and got shy when Mark complimented his physique. Often than not, Kai is always seen in videos staying close or having physical contact with Mark; they were recorded in the airport or press conferences making eye contact with each other and immediately smiling. 

The elder of the two likes to dote on his friend and keeps interacting with him during their official schedules. Of course, Mark returns his affection. The latter even described their relationship with each other as "an intimate, youthful, buddy-like friend."
