Eddy Kim's charges have been dropped after getting involved by the Burning Sun scandal that happened in April 2019. The controversial scandal also involves police officials and other K-pop celebrities, such as Jung Joon-young, Seungri, Yong Jun-Hyung, Lee Jong-hyun, Choi Jong-hyun, and more.

On Friday, March 6, the Prosecutors' Office that handed the case of Eddy Kim suspended the indictment of the singer, stating that he only shared one vulgar image that he found online, and Eddy even expressed how deeply remorseful he is of his actions. 

The police explained why the charges have been dropped in Eddy Kim's case. 

The authorities revealed that the singer did not actually participate in the conversation that happened in the 'KakaoTalk Group Chat' and was not involved in the illegal activities of the other accused. Additionally, the group chat where Eddy Kim was a part of was only for hobbies and not in the one where illicit activities and lewd conversations were shared.

It was in 2019 when Eddie Kim admitted to his crime of sharing pornographic images in a group chat with other K-pop celebrities in it, but strongly denied the accusation of filming rated x photo and videos and participating in the group's unlawful activities. 

Eddy Kim's management Mystic Story then released an official statement after the verdict made by the Prosecutors' Office. 

"March 2019, when our artist Eddy Kim was investigated by the authorities on the grounds of sharing pornographic photos. This case was then transferred to a prosecutors' office who is specializing in his case. He has now received a suspension of Indictment. We would like to clarify some information that has been done by the police," an excerpt from the official statement said. 

"It has been confirmed that Eddy Kim is not part of the group chat room where the illegal filmed materials were being sent and talked about, but was part of a different chat room that is created to discuss hobbies. Despite everything, Eddy Kim is remorseful of his actions and understands the consequences of his actions," it added.

"We would like to sincerely ask for the forgiveness of those who are affected by his wrong action. Rest assured that Eddy Kim will work hard to make things right and do things with a strong sense of responsibility," the statement went on.
