BTS' V Drops "Sweet Night" Music Video for "Itaewon Class" OST
BTS's V unveiled the "Sweet Night" music video for the Part 12 OST lineup of 'Itaewon Class."
On March 6, reports announced V's possible participation in singing one of the drama's official soundtracks. According to a source from the film industry, the discussion was currently being reviewed by the BTS member.
Park Seo Joon, the lead actor in "Itaewon Class," is a close friend of V. The two celebrities met in 2016 when they both starred in the periodic drama "Hwarang."
V and his fellow member Jin also took part in singing the official soundtrack of the series, titled "Definitely You." Then, on March 9, V confirmed that he will officially sing for the ongoing show.
VLENDING production company of "Itaewon Class" announced that "Sweet Night" will be released through various online music websites on March 13 at 6 P.M. KST.
V reportedly produced the music himself and introduced the track as a sweet indie-pop track with a mix of acoustic vibes. Days before the official soundtrack was released, V shared his thoughts about the original "Itaewon Class" webtoon and how he felt about taking part in the drama's lineup of OSTs.
"I decided to read first the original webtoon "Itaewon Class" before seeing the actual drama. I enjoyed reading the webtoon and I was able to reflect [on] some life lessons from the story itself," he was quoted saying.
He also shared how one's character from the series has left a deep impression on him.
"Park Sae Roy's character left a particularly deep impression on me. I can say that I liked him. So I am very surprised that a close friend of mine, whom I adore so much, is playing Park Sae Roy's role," he added.
V ended his statement by expressing how thankful he is for the trust that was granted to him.
"I am grateful for being able to participate with a self-composed song in such a wonderful drama with remarkable actors and actresses. I hope that you will all be able to show it a lot of love," the K-pop idol stated.
"Sweet Night" is V's first solo official soundtrack. With the help of his co-members in BTS, he was able to compose and translate the lyrics in the English language.
V also released his first full solo track "Scenery" on January 20, 2019, via BTS's Soundcloud page. "Scenery" is a ballad song and was originally written and composed by V who also made the cover artwork. The track broke records in Soundcloud by reaching 100 million streams in a span of fourteen days.
