BTS Leader RM: "We Are Working On Our Next Album"
The BTS leader RM has announced that the band is already gearing up for its next album!
On April 17, RM held a live stream on the group's official BANGTANTV YouTube channel to catch fans up with what the members have been doing.
He said, "I switched this on because we decided to try something different," and continued, "it's not like I have a particular name for this material. With the postponement and cancelation of our performances and the situation stretching for a long period, we have come up with an idea to pursue something different."
"It's nothing much," he stated, "we only felt the need to share what we have been doing to stay more connected and do a lot of different things around each other. We intend to share our experiences with you around once a week from this day forward."
Most importantly, RM talked of the preparations BTS is doing for their next comeback. He went on to say, "I am sure that many of you know by now that we will release another album. We have started to prepare for that. We'll be sharing the phase of planning with you. As of now, no specifics have been determined, and we have only just begun thinking about it. Because we are going through something new, we'll be working hard to do deliver."
RM raised expectations for the new song as he proceeded to say, "We're not precisely sure when to launch the song.
I'm quite sure there will be instances we might not want to reveal because the phase of preparing the album isn't always perfect, but while we don't know what the outcome will be, we're going to do our hardest work."
MAP OF THE SOUL: 7's BACKGROUND
After their sixth comprehensive Map of the Soul: Persona (2019) debut, BTS agreed to "replenish and plan for their re-introduction as musicians and producer" in the midst of their Love Yourself World Tour "and to appreciate the lives of young adults in the early years of their lifetime."
Until Map of the Soul: 7's official release, music critics and fans believed that Map of the Soul would be a trilogy, and forthcoming albums will be named after Jungian psychology concepts - Persona, Shadow and Ego. RM later revealed that the album was initially planned to be part of a trilogy before the band changed course and moved to an extended period.
He added, "We thought, 'Why don't we merge them into one album?' Shadow represents our wounds, and Ego is about embracing our fate. So 7 is a very suitable title because, after seven months, we've been back."
