BLACKPINK: Might Be Repeating the History of 2ne1's Sudden Disbandment?

Fans think it's just so ironic that a girl group as in-demand as BLACKPINK has long been on standby without a sure sign of a comeback. It resulted in disappointment from their avid followers, with some coming up with an analysis that the girls might be repeating 2NE1's history, succumbing to split-up in 2016.

Let's take a closer look at how some BLINKS interpreted the current plight of the K-pop group.

Postponements

BLACKPINK's comeback has been long overdue, even the members' solos. Triggered fans have been experiencing false hopes. Although Jennie's solo materialized, no one among her members followed suit.

In 2015, 2NE1's fandom, the Blackjacks, was under the same state of annoyance and drought when their comeback was postponed. Until the following year came, the girls took the industry by storm when they decided to break up.

Comeback hints unfulfilled

"When BLACKPINK was about to debut, and 2NE1 disbandment was coming, Blackjacks were attacking them, now BLINKs are acting like Blackjacks, now BLACKPINK's comeback is delayed for the 3rd time, and YG's about to debut a new gg soon...I see a pattern here," an online user said.

YG used to give hints that a group will have their comeback (2NE1), yet it failed to provide an exact date for the fans. This collected rage from the fandom who, once again, felt they got played.

Now, this situation has become a similar scenario for BLACKPINK, as their "WELCOME 2020 Photobook" stirred speculations that they will soon set the stage on fire again. However, up until now, there is no sure sign of such.

"What is the f**king point of YG debuting a new GG just to mistreat them the same way they did with 2NE1 and BLACKPINK," a fan wrote.

YG confirmed a new girl group

Although many got excited when the label revealed that a group of girls is set to debut in 2020, some are skeptical that BLACKPINK will end too soon. 2NE1 was on its hype of fame when an emerging set of trainees was rumored to be launched. Some even have claimed that BLACKPINK was the replacement of the senior group, but this was then denied by YG, saying that they have a different style. Therefore, fans fear that these blossoming K-pop idols will take the scene instead.

"I am so sorry to be that person, but everytime I see the 2NE1 live, IT MAKES ME CRY, because thinking one day, BLACKPINK will be like that too. After they disband, still sisters by heart. I CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT BECAUSE IF I DO I'LL JUST SOB," one fan tweeted.

Hiatus amid massive fame

Some BLINKs dread that BLACKPINK might go through the same thing that happened to CL, Bom, Minzy, and Dara. Some even claimed that what were supposed to be 2NE1's songs were passed to their junior group.

"YG PLS, WE DON'T WANT BLACKPINK'S SACRIFICE 3YRS OF HIATUS LIKE 2NE1!!!!" Another fan said.

"Jisoo's letter is just a hint that no comeback [is] yet to happen. So let's not all raise our hopes [up]. They will never return again. NEVER. At this point, I will not be surprised if they suddenly disband. Just like what happened on 2NE1. F*** that company," a BLINK tweeted.

Nevertheless, some BLINKs remain hopeful that the girls will soon be presenting new music and making their much-deserved comeback. Given the current global health crisis, the group is technically having a good reason for their postponement.
