BLACKPINK is The First K-pop Group to Have 3 MVs with 800M Views

BLACKPINK once again achieved a new milestone as they just became the first K-pop artists to have three MVs with more than 800 million views!

On April 20, their music video for their previous comeback song, "Kill This Love," surpassed 800 million views on YouTube at 3:43 a.m. Shortly after, YG Entertainment released its congratulatory messages to the dynamic quartet through its official website and social media accounts.

This feat also means that BLACKPINK has been able to set their new record on YouTube. They currently hold the titles as the "First K-pop group to hit 1 Billion views," and "First K-pop Artists to have three music videos with more than 800 million views."

Their songs that achieved more than 800 million views include "Kill This Love," "DDU-DU DDU," which has garnered 1.1 billion views earlier, and "BOOMBAYAH," which is heading for 900 million views. Another hit song, "As If It's Your Last," is also expected to join the list as it already has 771 million views.

Meanwhile, when the music video for "Kill This Love" was released on April 5 last year, it surpassed 100 million views in only 63 hours. Fans anticipated BLACKPINK's comeback album for long, as evident in their eagerness to help the group achieve such a record. Also, the song was listed as the only K-pop in the Top 10 list of "2019 World's Most Viewed Music Videos" released on YouTube as well.

The music video for "Kill This Love" captivated fans around the world, with BLACKPINK's powerful yet charismatic dance lines and sophisticated beauty. Fans were able to see the amazing rap collaboration between Lisa and Jennie, as well as the visuals and the vocals of Jisoo and Rosé. Fans and non-fans all over the world tried and still try to cover the song by doing the hit dance step - forming a gun using the middle finger, pointing finger and thumb finger, aiming a shot to the audience.

The song had become widely popular not only in Asia but also in North America and Europe, topping the list of "the most covered songs in the world" that year. It was the most covered K-pop song for the second consecutive year after "DDU-DU DDU-DU."

BLACKPINK's potential can be seen not only through music videos but also through domestic and foreign music charts. Furthermore, their YouTube achievement isn't all there is. Aside from their back-to-back all-kill charts in a Korean music show, "Kill This Love" simultaneously entered the US Billboard's main singles chart Hot 100 and Billboard 200 at 41st and 24th, respectively, creating the first and best K-pop girl group records.

Moreover, their albums accumulated a large sale amount in Hanteo and Oricon charts, as well as they also topped Korean digital music streaming sites such as Melon, Soribada, etc. Even Forbes, a US economic magazine, acknowledged BLACKPINK's influence, saying that people's craze with the song will continue.

Undoubtedly, their comeback that has been on hold for long due to several circumstances is expected to be a hit without even guessing. BLINKs have been expressing their anticipation in every chance they get on every social platform, proving that they have been prepared to give a successful all-out comeback for the global girl group.
