TVXQ's Changmin and solo artist IU honor Children's Day with a big donation!

ChildFund Korea announced on May 4 that Changmin had contributed 55 million won (about $44,900) to commemorate Children's Day, which would be on May 5.

Changmin's contribution would be used to generate contingency savings to cover living costs for 110 adolescents in need because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the organization.

Changmin said, "I decided to celebrate Children's Day by offering a donation that could support pandemic COVID-19 children who need it the most. I genuinely hope and pray that the day will soon come when all the kids can play and run around safely and do whatever they want."

ChildFund Korea's head said, "We genuinely take this opportunity to thank Changmin for his continuing contributions and for never ignoring children disadvantaged in the community. In the COVID-19 global epidemic, we must make absolutely sure to use his gift to support children whose households struggle to pay living costs."

Starting with a 2017 charitable contribution to keeping low-income children impacted by the Pohang earthquake, over the years, Changmin has donated a lot of money to support children. In 2018 he had become a participant of the "Green Noble Club" of ChildFund Korea, which recognizes sponsors who have donated a total amount of 100 million won (around $81,600) or more.

Meanwhile, IU provided yet another heart-warming charitable contribution to support vulnerable children.

The Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, an international non-profit organization that supports the children's welfare, disclosed on May 4, "Singer IU decided to donate 100 million won (estimated $81,570) advance of Children's Day." South Korea celebrates Children's Day on May 5."

Since 2015, IU has contributed to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation and formerly funded the war against coronavirus (COVID-19) with five grants totaling 315 million won (around $265,000).

The angelic artist has contributed more than US Dollars 1.25 million to coronavirus, poor kids, and more.

IU was called one of the "Heroes of Philanthropy" by Forbes Asia in December 2019 for her unwavering devotion to the charitable organization. The artist has contributed over 1.5 billion KRW (over $1.25 million) to hundreds of big charities in Korea and globally throughout the first year of her debut.

Netizens have lately been shocked by the extreme generosity of IU in the midst of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic. She has contributed a total of around $2260 million KRW ($220,000 USD) to four Korean associations in less than a week. The money would send the hospitals responsible for preventing the transmission of infection masks to low-income families and also medical equipment.

In addition to girls, IU's heart also reaches out to Korea's elderly people. One organization which she donated money to regularly is the foundation of senior citizens in Bangbaedong, Seoul, in specific. She has made five donations to the charity of ~110 million KRW ($8,400 USD) each since 2016. The funds are being used to deter heatwave deaths, for items like cooling comforters.
