YG Entertainment's New Boy Group TREASURE Confirmed to Debut in July
The most-awaited debut of YG Entertainment's rookie group TREASURE is finally coming this July!
According to the official confirmation by YG Entertainment, through a teaser video, the new boy band, five years after iKON debuted, will be launched in July this year. Along with the images of the 12 members, the caption "JULY 2020" was clearly flashed on the video.
TREASURE, who is the first group that will be debuting four years since BLACKPINK did, and the fourth boy band following BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON, is already gaining high expectations from the netizens and K-pop enthusiasts. The anticipation is growing as to how well the group will be able to carve their own name as treasures in the K-pop industry.
TREASURE is formed through YG's music survival show, titled "YG TREASURE BOX," which broadcasted last November 2018 to January 2019.
From 29 aspiring trainees competing to debut, only twelve finalists made it, including So Jung Hwan, Park Jeong Woo, Haruto, Doyoung, Bang Yedam, Asahi, Yoon Jae Hyuk, Mashiho, Junkyu, Yoshi, Jihoon, and Choi Hyun Suk.
Debuting in YG Entertainment as the first group to have twelve members, TREASURE is not just set to promote domestically but as well as internationally.
Even before debuting, they are already enjoying the popularity around the world, citing them as "The Most Promising New K-pop Star" in 2020. Prior to their introduction as TREASURE officially, YG Entertainment released several contents, such as video projects and teaser images, and the netizens who gave them lots of support and interest are overwhelming.
One of the proofs of TREASURE's popularity is their Performance Film, titled "GOING CRAZY," which was uploaded on their official YouTube Channel, featuring the 12 members. The views did go crazy as it has exceeded 15 million views and still counting. Considering that they haven't officially debuted, the number of views is truly praiseworthy.
YG Entertainment previously said, "The members actively participated in writing and composing their own lyrics. It is a positive change due to the praises of fans to the songs that the members have worked on over the past few months."
Meanwhile, TREASURE's senior group BLACKPINK is slated to make their major return in June, raising fans' anticipation to their album that is expected to be a massive hit once again. As of press time, the agency is yet to announce the exact date of BLACKPINK's comeback.
YG Entertainment then said, "We will be the first to notify the fans of the exact date and related information."
Following this, the agency's upcoming music is expected to heat up the global music market as well as the music industry this summer.
