Pledis Entertainment To Take Legal Action Against Fans Who Violate NU'EST's Privacy
Pledis Entertainment will act immediately to safeguard the privacy rights of NU'EST members.
The company issued the following statement on May 13.
"Hello, this is Pledis Entertainment!
Thank you for your love and undying support for our NU'EST artist. Recently, though, there seems to be a handful of cases of individuals who have stepped over the line in expressing their interest and affection in NU'EST.
Even after our latest statement about organized fan club behavior and attitude and the safety and security of the confidentiality of our musicians, fans keep visiting the firm, practice rooms, recording rooms, fitness centers, etc.
Waiting for members or accompanying their automobiles to their dormitories, enabling the members to develop significant emotional and mental distress. Just after NU'EST ended their previously planned activities on Tuesday, May 12, an attack took place in which [fans] followed them by car and managed to sneak into their apartment building's corridor to wait for them
So we reported the fans to the local authorities promptly, and took further action.
We will respond strongly to any and all ongoing and prospective instances, just like these [recent] ones, by taking action including such permanently restricting their fan group events and operations relevant to NU'EST.
We will collect evidence via sources, including CCTV footage and the internet to file a complaint at the local police station. In addition, we will be calling for strict penalties on all aspects that threaten the health and personal rights of the NU'EST.
We are calling for support and cooperation from L.O. A.E to allow NU'EST to have safe and secure events and operations, and we will strive to handle [the incidents] and do our best to protect the musicians.
Thank you very much."
Because of this, fans are worried about their idols, experiencing such emotional and mental distress, thinking it might affect their future promotional activities.
A fan called for Pledis Entertainment after finding evidence that a possible "sasaeng" would follow the band to their flight plane by purchasing the same ticket destination the same as NU'EST's.
"Hi, @pledisnews @STAFF_NUEST
This is dangerous as the barcode might contain sensitive info. Please take action to prevent this. The fact they can get that shows your lack of security. If they get away with this, they'll do more to breach the artist's privacy. #NUEST #뉴이스트."
A sasaeng fan who goes by the name "duckie.choy0809" also posted statements on her Instagram account clearly implying that she is willing to follow NU'EST around wherever they go.
She would even ask people to accompany her and that she will pay for the whole expenses just 'to protect her from any (securities) insect.'"
The alleged sasaeng's post read:
"Any Vietnamese who stan NU'EST will join the V Heartbeat event next week? As I will stay at the same hotel with NU'EST and I would like to find a person to stay with me together. I will pay the full fee of the hotel for you and you don't need to spend any money.
The only thing you need to do is to be my tour guide and protect me to chase away any insect. Message me if you have an interest and I promise that I will let you to get close to the member of NU'EST in the hotel."
By posting this, many fans condemned her for still choosing to violate the privacy of the band despite Pledis Entertainment's warning to take legal actions to whoever will violate it.
