Following the buzz that the dating rumor of EXO member Kai and TWICE's Dahyun brought to the K-pop fans and supporters, the Facebook spazzer who spread the rumor already took down the post that alarmed everyone.
The rumor sparked on May 11 when a spazzer, a term that is used for an individual who offers their time to give breaking information and exclusive information to other fans about idols, posted on Facebook about a dating rumor involving the male and female idol.
According to the post, Kai and Dahyun were confirmed to be dating a month ago, and SM Entertainment already released an official statement about it. However, looking at the social media accounts of the agency, including Lysn and its official website, there is no statement acknowledging the said dating issue. JYP Entertainment was also mentioned, saying that they are yet to release their stand about it.
Without confirming the source, the news escalated and immediately spread throughout the online platforms. Netizens also expressed their thoughts and opinions about the rumor.
Fans and supporters of the two idols reacted in various ways, but most of them were unhappy.
Several fans conveyed their emotions, venting out on Twitter, posting memes, and post denying the rumor which hundreds or thousands of fans strongly believe that it is not true.
Somehow, this sparks misunderstanding between the two fandoms, as their views and opinions about the news were divided.
Some were making fun of Kai, because had it been true, then he's going to complete the "Big 3" (dating female idols from SM, YG, and JYP). EXO-Ls were quick to Kai's rescue and defended him from malicious commenters.
This offensive joke started when he was first confirmed to be dating f(x)'s Krystal, his labelmate, in 2016. After a year of dating, the two broke up for good. Then, in 2019, Kai was also exposed to be dating BLACKPINK's Jennie of YG Entertainment, and surprisingly, after less than a month, they reportedly parted ways as well.
With fans protecting EXO's Kai with this dating rumor, ONCEs are also wary as this could be propaganda by anti-fans, as TWICE is gearing up for their upcoming comeback this June.
On the other hand, JYP Entertainment and SM Entertainment are not releasing any statement about this, that's why other fans are setting the rumor aside and chose to focus on the respective K-pop idols' activities.
