Yang Hyun Suk To Possibly Face Re-Investigation For His Involvement in B.I.'s Case

After Hanbin, popularly known as B.I. and the former leader of K-pop group iKON, has been declared negative of illegal drugs after undergoing a series of tests, Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office just recently announced that former YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk may undergo re-investigation.

According to sources on May 26, police investigation records of Yang Hyun Suk and B.I. from the Suwon District Prosecutor's office were handed in the early part of this month. The mentioned legal agency is eyeing for the re-opening of the examination of the case of Yang Hyun Suk if needed, even though it's been eight months since the Gyeonggi Southern District Office has done a thorough examination of the case. This is the aftermath of the controversy that involves Suwon Office's investigation.

On top of this, the aforementioned agency is looking into disposing of the charges given to journalists, accused of exposing the whistleblower's name and residence location. It can be recalled that in August of last year, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission pursued legal actions against MBC newscasters who said to have committed a violation against the law and protection by revealing the true identity of the whistleblower.

In June of 2019, Yang Hyun Suk, founder of YG Entertainment, officially resigned from his position as the CEO amid consecutive scandals that involved their artists as well as his own name. The controversy created social media frenzy, and speculations stated that he was trying to conceal the allegations on B.I.'s illegal drug scandal.

Yang Hyun Suk's name was also dragged into prostitution. He penned his message publicly on the advent of his resignation.

In April of 2020, fans of Hanbin were hopeful after it was confirmed that his case is being looked forward to bearing a positive result from the prosecution. On the 27th of the month, Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency Investigation Team finally announced that Hanbin's case was on the final verdict. Such a process has to be followed to attain a final decision on the artist's legal battle. Prior to that, he was announced to have tested negative from illegal drugs.
