Sources announced on May 15 that in early June, MOMOLAND is making a big comeback. The approaching return will be their first after December's "Thumbs Up."

MOMOLAND is a girl group founded via the 2016 television series "Finding Momoland" by MLD Entertainment (which used to be recognized as Double Kick Company).

The series winners were the seven members Hyebin, Yeonwoo, Jane, Nayun, JooE, Ahin, and Nancy, and they started their careers with the EP "Welcome to Momoland" on November 10, 2016.

MOMOLAND also welcomed two new recruits in 2017, Daisy and Taeha. However, in 2019, Taeha and Yeonwoo left the group, while Daisy quit in 2020.

They made a return on January 3, 2018, with their 3rd EP, "Great!" along with the song title "Bboom Bboom."

Then, Russian girl group Serebro claimed MOMOLAND plagiarized their song "Mi Mi Mi" with "Bboom Bboom" in the same month the latter was unveiled. Shinsadong Tiger, the songwriter of "Bboom Bboom," refuted the accusations by trying to point out that "the bass line [is] usually recognized in the styles of retro house or electro swing, and also the 4-stanza chord."

From February 28 until March 4 in 2018, MOMOLAND organized promotional activities in Tokyo and Osaka. The group drew 25,000 attendees at a four-day festival in Japan.

Around 100 press also took part in the showcase, conducted at Tower Records in Shibuya.

MOMOLAND also collaborated with King Records and premiered with a Japanese version of their song "Bboom Bboom" in Japan on June 13, 2018

On June 26, 2018, they launched their fourth EP, "Fun to the World," with the title track "Baam."

On August 9, 2018, with over 100 million views with the single "Bboom Bboom," MOMOLAND became the only girl band - and the second band - to win Gaon Music Chart's Platinum certification.

On March 20, MOMOLAND released their fifth EP, "Show Me," with the leading track "I'm So Hot," which, after "Welcome to Momoland," has been their only album excluding Daisy and Taeha.

MOMOLAND officially launched their only Japanese studio album, "Chiri Chiri," on September 4, 2019, minus Daisy, Taeha, and Yeonwoo.

The pop group and MLD Entertainment decided on October 4, 2019, to sign a co-management deal with the Philippine media company ABS-CBN.

At the end of 2019, MLD Entertainment announced the departures of Yeonwoo and Taeha via the official online cafe of the band and confirmed that they were still discussing their prospects with Daisy.

Daisy made the remarks in January 2020, wherein she claimed that "Finding Momoland" had been manipulated, and the series had rigged results and called her after she had been removed to reassure her not to bother and that there was a "plan."

She said that she was not permitted even after she recovered from her serious health issues, and would only (the company) authorize it to withdraw her contract if she pays 1.1 billion won fine (about US$ 942,866.65). She also said that her company was not allowed to do promotional activities with MOMOLAND.
