K-Pop groups' names are significant to K-pop idols as this is going to be their branding as well as the symbolism of their image and concept. As every K-pop groups' names would be connected to something meaningful and robust, did you know that the groups in this post might not have been known for using these titles for their team?
BTS
BTS literally means "Bulletproof Boy Scouts," and every fan knows this. But, did you know that "Young Nation" or even "Big Kids" were considered the name of this successful group from Big Hit Entertainment? Gladly, BTS still sticks with the meaning of being the bulletproof vests for their fans or "Beyond The Scene" for the music industry, it just feels like the best name that fits for them.
EXO
Every fan knows that EXO came from "exoplanet" but may not realize that SM Entertainment almost debuted the boys with the name "Boy's Paradise." If they have decided to stick with this name, they might have shown a different concept when they debuted.
BIGBANG
BIGBANG could have had a name like "Diamond" as they debut. It would certainly make the right group name, but you know there is an aura when you mention BIGBANG as it is, right?
MAMAMOO
Can you imagine calling MAMAMOO as "Wah Wah Girls"? Nah? Well, their fans are also thankful that they didn't debut with that group name. It seems like RBW might regret it if they really decided with that name for the powerful girl group they are handling.

Lovelyz' pre-debut name is as equal to lovely! Lovelyz was actually supposed to debut as "Radiance," since the members appear perfectly radiant before their debut, no wonder Woollim Entertainment kept a group of dashing members as their first girl group formed under them.
GFRIEND
K-pop industry's "girlfriends" almost debut with a different group's name and concept! Source Music had "World Peace," "Guardian Angel," and "Hug Hug" as their names before they settled with their current name now.
BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK as 'PINK PUNK'? Sounds crazy, right? The vibe it gives off is more appropriate to K-rock, that's why luckily, YG has finalized with BLACKPINK as their name. But, sure enough, that BLACKPINK has a much powerful vibe, and the fans know it, too!
VIXX
Since VIXX is signed under Jellyfish Entertainment, they would think of debuting a group under an oceany name for their agency. In fact, N once revealed that they could have been called "Bluefish!"
MONSTA X
Starship Entertainment actually has gone around for the last name of their legendary group for a while. They even considered "High Top" as their name but decided against it.
CLC
CLC actually had "Go-Go Girls" or "Jewelry Shop" as the possible names for the group, but obviously, fans are thankful that these were not the final name they went with.

Although the group eventually debuted under the name BTOB, which is an acronym for "Born To Beat," this was not their name before they debuted. CUBE Entertainment has also thought of "Asian King" or "Sonic" before settling on the name we all know and love today.

Girls' Generation is actually a counterpart to their fellow SM group, Super Junior. And with this, the group used to simply be called "Girl Group" or "Super Girls." Fair enough, SM Entertainment changed it as it suits them well! The Girls of all generations!

It's hard to imagine SHINee with any other name, as this is entirely what we think of the group as their title. But Key once revealed that they almost finalized their group name with "The Kiddies!" or"'SM5." We all know that SHINee fits them a lot better because they are indeed shining in every stage!
