K-pop Band BTS and Big Hit Entertainment Supported Black Lives Matter By Donating $1 Million

BTS and their managing label Big Hit Entertainment have already made a significant contribution to the campaign, after showcasing their support for the Black Lives Matter campaign earlier this week.

Big Hit Entertainment announced on June 6 local time that BTS and the label had contributed $1 million to Black Lives Matter.

BTS and Big Hit are "not anticipated to react on the contribution," according to a report issued by Variety.

BTS demonstrated its support for the Black Lives Matter movement previously this week via a post on their personal twitter account, simply saying, "We are opposed to race discrimination. We denounce acts of violence. You, I and we are all entitled to respect. We are going to stand together.'

Other K-pop Idols such as Jay Parkm GOT7's Mark and Yugyeoom, Day 6's Jae, Heize, 2NE1's CL, and others also expressed their support for the BLACK LIVES MATTER campaign. 

Since George Floyd 's death some of the most prominent K-pop and Korean musicians speak out for fair trials, justice, due process and express their support with the black community. 

As America clashes with the uproar over the demise of another black man at the hands of law enforcement, a Minneapolis policeman asphyxiated Floyd during an arrest. This topic has gained worldwide attention , particularly in the Korean entertainment industry, a sector strongly influenced and inspired by black music and culture.

Although the first reactions to the violence came from Korean-American and hip-hop musicians, the effect has expanded in the name of Black Lives Matter to several different artists utilizing their influence and platforms and inspiring their followers to contribute, act as supporters and take appropriate action.

In reflecting on the power of popular culture and black people, Jay Park expressed his outrage about the situation of "untold innocents, unarmed civilians losing their lives and not anyone blamed or being held accountable."

The rap artist also made a donation of $10,000 to the Black Lives Matter Movement.

The H1GHR hip-hop firm from Park has confirmed that, in the Black Out Tuesday for the entertainment world, it is holding onto new album drops set to take place for 2-4 June.

"H1GHR Music hopes for a future in which all men are handled fairly," the company captioned in a video showing their roster posing with posters on "Black Lives Matter."

The world-famous rap artist, Tiger JK, has already spoken immediately following the death of George Floyd, begging his followers to force Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis by making demands and sharing updates on local Korean broadcasts.

Eric Nam also expressed rapid support for the black lives matter Matter movement, citing as credible proof that "RACISM is NOT DEAD," the killings of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.

"George and Ahmaud are only two of the thousands of black people who lost their lives without any reason," the native of Atlanta started adding. He sent a plea for justice to Floyd from Change.org.

Mark Tuan of GOT7 told his 5.4 million Twitter followers that he "stays optimistic and stable" and ends up sharing a connection to donation resources. In the George Floyd Memorial Fund, the musician-rapper provided $7,000 in donations.

CL expressed support on their Instagram Story for Black Lives Matter and George Floyd, requesting her 7.9 million followers to sign the petition for Color of Change.

Jae of K-pop / rock band DAY6 posted a link with his $1,000 contribution to help Black Lives Matter campaigns.
