EXO's Baekhyun Opens Up About His Fears and Anxieties
EXO's Baekhyun opened up about his fears and anxieties as he shared his affection and admiration towards his supporters through a fan conference online.
On June 13, Baekhyun conducted a Naver V Live stream called "CanDelight Shop."
While responding to several questions from his supporters, the entertainer shared how much progress his new solo song "Candy" is doing.
"We really ripped 'Candy' apart and patched it back together several times," Baekhyun said, sharing that he had to record it several times after realizing that he didn't prefer the original version.
"For me, the soundtrack was a fresh challenge and I wasn't happy about it. The content didn't meet my expectations the first rime I recorded it so I had to record it over and over again."
Baekhyun continued to express his disappointments about not being able to meet his fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also stated that as an artist, he doesn't want to live in a box and be constrained like the the way everyone is living right now.
"I'm a creative individual who enjoys and likes to improvise, and I believe these kinds of constraints make it hard for me as a musician to express my true style and color," he exclaimed.
"I like to be able to enjoy life together while standing in front of you, and I can take a glance at you while I perform. This is why I have made a lot of comments on social media," he added.
Nevertheless, the singer expressed that at the end of the day, he still feels good knowing that he could organize organize online fan conferences to interact with his supporters.
"I'm saddened we can't meet and do stuff together, but we do need to be safe and healthy so we can see one another in the future for a long period of time and be happy," Baekhyun said.
"Don't be too sad then. I'll come and see you on V Live or any other social media platform. I wish you can enjoy a sweet and warm summer with me."
He further commented, "I would like to keep you happy like I always say and I hope all of you are happy and okay. I'm grateful we are at least capable of meeting like this even in these tough moments."
Baekhyun then added, "I've managed to reveal a lot of various sides of myself when promoting 'Candy.' Even though I was exhausted, I went out every night and took classes." He then admitted, "I actually worry that one day, I won't be as inspiring anymore, that I'm going to be somebody whom EXO-Ls will no longer be able to relate with. It scares me to think that the EXO-Ls may not feel something towards me anymore."
"So I will continue to work hard for all of you and I hope to spend much time with you soon. I hope we will continue to inspire each other for a long time. Please don't take a step ahead of me, okay, and also don't fall behind me either. I hope we could walk next to each other together forever. EXO-Ls, I love you all!"
EXO-Ls were touched by Baekhyun's message for them and said that they will always support him. Fear not Baekhyun, your supporters will always be with you! Fighting!
