The first unit of Red Velvet, Irene and Seulgi, will star in a reality entertainment show this July! A broadcasting representative confirmed to Joy News 24 on the 14th saying, "Red Velvet Irene and Seulgi are planning to show off their skills through a reality entertainment live show."

Red Velvet was absolutely adored from Season one to three in the hit program "Level Up Project," a traveling show with all the Red Velvet members as participants namely Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy, and Yeri. The show ran from 2017 to 2018 and has launched three seasons.

Since the annoucement, people are excited to see Irene and Seulgi and what kind of amusement they have in store. The representative also said, "the two stars have finished filming ahead for their return, and it will be announced to the public through wave."

SPOTV News announced on April 21 that Seulgi and Irene are planning to make a unit premiere, and are now in the last preparation stage for their release. Before their launch the two gained popularity via SMROOKIES SR14 G for their live performance of "Be Natural."

Red Velvet's social media platforms posted an update on Irene and Seulgi's much-awaited premiere on May 27, at 12:00 midnight KST. Furthermore, the pair is expected to make an appearance on the launching of their first mini-album "Monster!"

Meanwhile, a logo for the unit which incorporates the first letters of their names were also unveiled. Irene and Seulgi then revealed the launchind date of their mini-album. It will be in June 15 and it'll feature six tracks from different genres.

SM Entertainment has however confirmed that the subunit of Red Velvet will be temporarily halted until July, and have thanked supporters for expressing interest in Irene and Seulgi's unit album. The company clarified that they had decided to halt the release because they believe the album requires additional output to attain better music quality.

After it is agreed, SME will release a new announcement about the new launch date. Reports say that on June 13, Irene and Seulgi from Red Velvet are alread ready for their subunit launch! Red Velvet jointly posted a short clip of Irene and Seulgi drawing at 12:00 midnight KST on June 14.

The snippet is entitled "Irene's Little Monster" and features Irene drawing a small monster cartoon character and Seulgi can be seen making comments beside her.

Meanwhile, some fans speculate that the two will leave their groups as they launch a sub-unit. "Somebody should clarify, I'm very puzzled: Why are they debuting as a subunit? Should they not leave out joy and yeri (and Wendy) isn't Red Velvet a small group enough?"

Fans are quick to ease the mind of the confused fans and made remarks:

"Perhaps you overlook the sub-unit concept? It's not as if they 're trying to withdraw themselves from RV, they 're just going to promote as both of them for some time and return. And considering the background of SM, the majority of the members of the RV are expected to either have solo or subunit opportunities."

"Now, Wendy can not continue again, so the RV will not be able to return in its whole. Perhaps Joy and Yeri have different responsibilities/plans that lead to Irene and Seulgi 's choice to do this. Or perhaps for quite some time now, this has been on the agenda who knows."

"Right, sub-units arise when the entire group can not completely function, but they are still valued by the agency."

At the end of the day, all fans want the same things for their idols. It's too be happy and to continue producing great music. Even if Irene and Seulgi have formed a sub-unit, they will always be a part of Red Velvet.
