Goo Hara's Brother Responds to the Sentencing of the Late Idol's Ex-Boyfriend
Choi Jong Bum, the controversial ex-boyfriend of the late idol Goo Hara, finally received his sentence.
On July 2, the 29-year-old Choi Jong Bum received one-year imprisonment as declared by the Seoul's Central District Court. During his initial trial, he only received a probation period, of which a possible 1.5 years of imprisonment will be pursued if he will violate the 3-year period.
Although there was no footage that will give valid evidence of his illegal footage filming, property damage, threats, physical assault, unnecessary force, and others proved him guilty on the first trial.
However, on his most recent trial on July 2, Choi Jong Bum was found guilty for several crimes, which prompted him to obtain the sentence. He is declared guilty of sexual crimes through illegal footage filming.
With this, Goo Ho In gave his response about the recent update of his late sister's ex-boyfriend.
He said, "I conclude that the idea of him (Choi Jung Bum) sentenced to imprisonment without suspension in the appeal is a small source of comfort to our family that would aid out in eliminating the pain. Still, we are in regret as he was not found guilty of filming without consent and is sentenced for a single year."
He added, "When my sister was still alive, she saw him given a prison sentence with suspension, but I believe she'd be satisfied to know he had the suspension revoked today."
Goo Ho In added that he will still push through a final appeal to increase further the sentence of Choi Jong Bum.
Meanwhile, Goo Hara's brother is still moving forward to his legal battles against their biological mother, who was known to have requested for half of the late idol's assets. Recently, he confirmed that KARA's Jiyoung's father is one of the additional three witnesses presented that would give their testimonies siding with Hara.

It was also announced that the estranged mother did not appear during the latest trial. Their testimonies will be heard on the 12th next month.
On November 24, around 6:00 p.m. KST, Seoul Gangnam Police Station declared a dead body inside one of the homes in Cheongdam neighborhood, of which was identified as the late idol, Goo Hara. A suicide note was found by the investigators on the crime scene. Fans have expressed their grief over the loss of a talented artist, who was only 28.
