Jay Park Hints At Possible Retirement From The Music Industry

Singer-songwriting, entrepreneur, and the head of hip-hop label AOMG, Jay Park has hinted at his retirement. 

Jay Park shared a snipped of his song "Encore" from his new EP "Nothing Matters" to Instagram on July 3, With that, the caption reads, "I think I've done my best and feel like I can leave without regrets." His caption also includes some lyrics from the song.

This is not the first time Jay Park has hinted on retiring early. In 2018, he said in an interview, "I think I'm going to retire early. It's not easy to always pour out my energy for so many people." He confirmed the news again in 2019 in a Tweet.

He revealed he had plans of retiring in a couple of years, citing that there was not enough space in the game for guys like him. While fans are not sure what he meant by that, people assume he meant to retire from performing but still work at the hip-hop label he founded.

As the head of AOMG, Jay Park has is known as one of the most hardworking musicians in the country, consistently releasing new songs that he produces whilst working on managing his company and the artists he houses. Internet users are now paying more attention to Jay Park following his post and are wondering if he plans to actually retire.

Some netizens have shared their disbelief. Some comments read:

"No, you can't! Where are you going with that precious voice of yours?"

"He may be short, but he's charming and sexy. He was born to be a celebrity. Why would he retire?"

While others have tried to understand where he's coming from like one fan who said, "He has been working nonstop without any rest since leaving 2PM. Maybe he's tired."

Meanwhile, Jay Park's new EP "Nothing Matters" is now available on both domestic and international music streaming platforms since July 2, 6 PM.

Jay Park made his debut with 2PM in 2008 as the group's leader and rapper. During his time at 2PM, he was known as Jaebeom. In 2009, he withdrew from the group after unfavorable comments towards Korea were found in Jay Park's MySpace account in 2005. He ended up leaving the company and the group in 2010. He returned to his hometown in the United States and was seen in b-boy battles and posted covers to his personal YouTube channel.

His cover of B.o.B and Bruno Mars song "Nothin' On You" got over 2,000,000 views in less than 24 hours, which helped skyrocket his fame. B.o.B would end up releasing a version of the tray with Jay Park, who replaced Bruno Mars vocals.

He returned to Korea in 2010, initially signing with SidusHQ for his activities. Despite not having any promotions, Jay Park rose to stardom thanks to his talents. In 2013, he found his own label AOMG, a hip-hop entertainment label that his home to numerous Korean hip-hop artists.

Jay Park's music is rooted deep with R&B and hip-hop, and he has stated he takes influences from Usher, Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown. Jay Park is also an excellent dancer, specializing in b-boy. He writes, composes, and produces his own music. He also helps choreograph his own dances and has dabbled into acting.
