Charlie Puth has something to say for K-pop fans, fandoms and ARMYs! On July 6, the American singer-songwriter took on Twitter to earnestly plead ARMYS and other fandoms to end the 'dangerous, toxic, screaming match' happening on the internet, after the criticism he experienced from BTS fans.

Early this morning (KST time), netizens and K-pop enthusiasts were surprised when the international celebrity posted a thread on his Twitter account, imploring the mentioned fandom, saying, "I don't usually pay any attention to things like this, but something has to be said. This dangerous, toxic, internet screaming match between 'fandoms' has to stop."

According to Puth, he's already at the right age to disregards the inappropriate messages he's receiving from strangers, including those people saying, "I (Charlie) used BTS for clout."

In the tweet, he pertained that he has nothing against BTS, as in fact, he loves the group and even praised them for being super talented. In particular, he even performed his hit song, "We don't talk anymore," with the BTS member Jungkook in 2018, during MBC x Genie Music Awarding Ceremony in Korea.

However, seems like this caused misunderstanding among the fans, as some Tiktok ARMYs recently came into his account, spamming his TikTok posts with comments saying, "Remember when you used Jungkook for clout?"

[In context: Clout is a popular slang term used in social media referring to influence, fame or popularity.]

Shortly after his second tweet, he added another tweet, saying, "But what I do understand is that ten years ago, language (words) like this directed towards me would have affected me deeply in a very negative manner." He also mentioned that it made him think that the children using the internet are seeing these kinds of stuff every day, apparently what made him say something.

Just then, he wrapped up his message by lovingly asking everyone to be nicer. "Please be nicer to each other here. No more screaming about made-up nonsense." In the end, he reminded netizens as well that doing it won't have a positive effect so instead, each people should show compassion to each other, even now that the world is facing such troubles and pandemic.

As soon as internet users and fans saw Puth's tweet, netizens had a divided reaction and feedbacks about it. Some fans retorted in confusions, other netizens agreed to Charlie's point in his tweets, while some are pointing out the difference of Twitter fans and TikTok fans.

Some negative comments say, "Why would you post this here on Twitter?" "It's been two years, please move on."

While others also conveyed positive comments including "In behalf of those ARMYs, we MATURE ARMYs are apologizing for what happened," and "Thank you for speaking up."

On the other hand, ARMYs are currently delighted by the new records achieved by BTS, as the first K-pop act to reach most #1 on iTunes, topping 103 countries and surpassing Adele's "Hello" record in history.
