Several K-pop idols departed even before reaching their thirties, and their fans continue to mourn over the loss. Some might be filled with regret that they would have given them the world if they are still living.
Here are the 10 K-pop idols who passed away young and the cause of their passing.
Soloist Tany (22)
Tany or Kim Jin Soo died at the age of 22, as confirmed by his agency on April 14, 2018, due to car accident. He was driving his own vehicle when he crashed into a structure that caused his early passing, along with a totally wrecked car. He was known for singing a song that is dedicated to the victims of the Sewol Ferry incident in South Korea.
Singer and Producer Rottyful Sky (25)
Kim Haneul in real life, the then 25-year old passed away due to brain tumor in October of 2013. Prior to her death, she underwent medication, along with the halting of all her activities.
A'st1 Sung In Kyu (24)
Another K-pop idol who passed away young is Sung In Kyu of the band A'st1. He was 24 when he took his last breath due to thymus cancer in 2013. His fellow member, Park Jung Jin, revealed the news. His illness opened the minds of the many and gave awareness to how fatal cancer is.
A'st1 sang one of "Boys Over Flower" OST, "Yearning for You."
Ladies Code Kwon Rise (23)
One of the most shocking deaths in K-pop is the sudden passing of Ladies Code's Rise, who was then 23. She, along with fellow members and manager, rode a vehicle that met a traffic collision, which resulted in her early passing. She was rushed to the hospital and after four days, she was pronounced dead.
Ladies Code Eun-bi (21)
Another Ladies Code member who died on the mishap was then 21-year-old Eun-bi. A lot of her fans mourned so much as the young artist had so much to achieve if the unfortunate event did not occur. The tragic event happened in one of the members, Sojung's, birthday.
(KARA Project Trainee) Ahn So-jin
At the age of 22, the KARA Project trainee made a huge buzz after being pronounced dead on the 24th of February in 2015. She was found lifeless near her apartment's garden and said to have taken her own life by jumping from the 10th floor. She once said that she would like to debut as soon as possible to show her dad that being K-pop idol is a great job.
Singer and actress Woo Seung Yeun (26)
Woo Seung Yeun was revealed to have died in her home due to suicide. It was revealed that she had been suffering from depression and took medication as revealed by her associate.
Kang Doo-ri (22)
Another singer and actress who died at a very young age is Kang Doo-ri. She was 22 when it was first reported that she met a car accident. However, police reported that the real reason of her passing is suicide as a message from her was sent to a friend telling that she is ready to take her life.
SHINEE Jonghyun (27)
No one expected that the popular male idol would end his life too soon. He took his own life and a note was left to tell how much stardom had brought him pressure. In his letter, he mentioned that he is broken from the inside. Thus, it shed light on mental health awareness, given that K-pop idols are humans too.
Sulli (25)
One of the most controversial and recent deaths in K-pop is the passing of Sulli, a former member of f(x) and an actress. Known for her friendly aura and charming smiles, it was revealed that she had been the receiving end of consistent hate online. She was found dead in her home and a lot of her fans would blame that persistent online vitriol to have pushed the young idol to end her life.
The grieving goes on, especially for the fans who were there since the get-go. Still, these angels and the memories they had left will always be remembered.
