On July 30, Thursday, Zico officially enlisted for his mandatory military services. This marks the fourth Block B member to enlist, following Taeil, Ukwon, and B-Bomb.

Zico chose not to host any events, schedules, or activities for the safety of the fans, press, staff, and public due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Instead, the idol-rapper has chosen to enlist quietly.

Zico's agency, KOZ Entertainment, confirmed that Zico has enlisted for his mandatory military service, saying, "After training for four weeks at the basic military training center, Zico will serve as a social service agent until he will be discharged."

Other members of Block B who have yet to enlist for their military service are Park Kyung and P.O. Member Jaehyo had already enlisted for the military, but was unable to complete his service and was discharged early for repeatedly injuring his knee. 

Prior to his enlistment, Zico released the hit-track "Summer Hate" from his album "RANDOM BOX".

ABOUT ZICO

Zico debuted as the leader of Block B in 2011. They were originally housed by Stardom Entertainment but are now under Seven Seasons, a sub-label of KQ Entertainment. Prior to debuting in an idol group, Zico was active as an underground rapper and went by the name "Nacseo". He was specifically active in the Japanese underground hip hop scene. In 2009, he debuted in a duo with Park Kyung called Harmonics. In 2010, he released his very first mix tape entitled "Zico on the Block" that received positive praise from Korean hip hop fans.

He made his debut with Block B in 2011, with Zico producing their debut mini-album "Welcome to the Block." The group had run into controversy upon debut, with two of their songs being banned as inappropriate for minor. In 2012, the boys got their first breakthrough with the song "Nillili Mambo", which ranked at number 10 on the Billboard World Albums Chart.

In 2013, Block B filed a lawsuit against Stardom Entertainment. Following the suicide of the company's ex-CEO, the court ruled in favor of Stardom Entertainment. In 2013, Block B had their rights transferred from Stardom Entertainment to Seven Seasons and have since been promoting under their management.

In 2014, Zico debuted as a soloist. In 2015, he appeared on both "Unpretty Rapstar" and "Show Me the Money 4" as a prouder. That year, he gained recognition for being a producer in the industry, producing songs for Yuk Ji-dam, Gugudan's Kim Sejeong, and Song Mino.

In 2016, he formed the crew Fanxy Child. The other members of Fanxy Child are Crush, Penomeco, Stay Tuned, DEAN, and Millic.

In 2018, Zico parted from Seven Seasons and in 2019, Zico had set up his own label called KOZ Entertainment. He opened the label for his own promotions as well as the help develop other artists.

In the K-Pop industry, Zico is known for crossing over from the underground hip-hop to the idol life while still maintaining his hip-hop credibility. He is a record-breaking producer for both K-Pop and Korean hip-hop.
